An insurance backstop is not new or unheard of as I talked about today on Making Money with @cvpayne. The US has done versions of this repeatedly. In 1914, Congress created the Bureau of War Risk Insurance specifically to keep American merchant ships moving during WWI. During Korea in 1950, Congress expanded the authority to cover foreign flag vessels when commercial insurance was unavailable at reasonable rates. In 1987, Reagan reflagged 11 Kuwaiti tankers under the US flag for Operation Earnest Will, which sidestepped the insurance problem entirely by bringing them under US Navy escort. Bush activated this exact Chapter 539 authority for Black Sea trade during the 2008 Georgia crisis.

One of my favorite parts of covering the Wolves is Pablo Prigioni, working all alone after practice. Every day…

@CoachYoungNJ You are at HG a lot Coach, so I’m sure you’ve seen many of his games. You know it’s not “1 thing” from the stands and you know other coaches aren’t acting the same. Defend your guy - I get it - but his history is very well documented and a suspension of any kind is newsworthy

@CoachYoungNJ We also all agree the rule should be changed but it’s still a rule. Making light of it sends a bad message to his kids

@CoachYoungNJ Are you arguing that if we don’t like a rule that it is okay to break them? Doesn’t seem like the greatest message to send 15-18 year old kids

Breaking news w/ @MikeKinneyHS: Former Rutgers coach Mike Rice, now the boys coach at Linden, was suspended for the Tigers first game for violating NJSIAA out-of-season coaching rules. nj.com/sports/2025/12…
