@DWPgovuk's Permanent Secretary apologised for mistakes over carer's allowance overpayments. 90,000 carers built up debts to DWP, many unknowingly. Debts could have been avoided had DWP previously checked all HMRC alerts on income changes. It now checks all alerts.
