The Pope is both right—and profoundly mistaken. Of course, morality extends beyond questions of sexuality. But sexuality is not a peripheral concern. It is anthropological. It is the very framework through which society orders the relationship between man and woman—and, in turn, how society organizes itself at scale. At a moment when the most basic realities of human existence are being contested—when the meaning of male and female is obscured, and when marriage and the family are in visible decline—these are not marginal issues. They are foundational. Architectonic. They underwrite the possibility of social stability and human flourishing. To suggest, then, that our attention should be directed elsewhere is not merely a shift in emphasis; it is a misjudgment of first principles. He should know better than to say something this shortsighted.

As a Catholic, I don't buy that @realDonaldTrump is dividing most Catholics at least in this country. Quite the opposite in fact. They agree with him because most American Cathloics hate that the church has become politically progressive, obsequoous to the left and at times openly Marxist. The Pope-who is American--is literally suggesting that we should turn a blind eye to the murderous mullahs, and the American taxpayer should subsidize the world's poor through open borders. As a result, the Pope and the Catholic Church is losing its relevance for most American Cathloics who believe it should stay out of politics and focus its attention to matters of faith and its own problems, lest we forget how it ignored child abuse for decades wsj.com/politics/trump…

I miss Destiny so, so much… … but damn, every time I think about how angry it made me over the years because of everything Bungie was (or wasn’t) doing, I just let out a sigh of relief and another chain slowly breaks off of the shackles. I wish things ended up differently… but unfortunately, everything eventually has to come to an end.
