@sunstoneflower Being brought up on western tea find Thai tea lacking in flavour and guess that's why they add condense milk and sugar. But do drink my tea out of a mug with a Thai elephant on it, dies that count! 🙃 However the locally grown coffee here is great and yes always hot!

@bangkokaussie Maybe he was using a navigation aid! My last trip to BK had the arse of my car sticking out into the road when Google Maps tried to send me down a street that was clearly being used as a market. Guess all the locals were cursing me as you have this Mercedes driver!

Mercedes driver today trying to enter the Emquartier car park via the exit lane. Total wanker mover totally blocking traffic to do it. Not sure he took it well when the poor guard walked over to wave him on, but comes with the territory driving a merc drivers in this country.

@aimmariess Not one for cutting down trees so I can take a photo but have walked around that temple trying to get the best angle. Think your first photo is the best but still missing the head.

In 2013 Dad flew out to visit us in Thailand 🇹🇭 for a week, leaving Mum back home in Barnsley. Did he have a good time? Think he had one of his most exciting holidays ever. I remember buzzing around Bkk in a Tuk Tuk and him laughing out loud. #Memories #Bangkok #Thailand

@ThosMajor Like marmite, it's a "lifestyle" you either love or hate. I spent most of my childhood holidays in a thing like that and it put me off for life. Even learnt to drive in one and I put that down to why I failed the driving test twice!😄

Whenever we talk about camper vans, the argument is always the same... 'plenty of cheap hotels in Thailand, why bother'. It's not about the money, it's the lifestyle.

@sunstoneflower @NuryVittachi Yes it's the norm. Biden did it for his son and in the UK Starmer uses gag orders to silence reporting on his wrong doing! "joking" as they say ' never a truer word said in jest! Even my woke phone reckons what I've said here is inappropriate.

So Trump gets into power and forces the Tax and Justice Departments to co-sign a promise to never investigate or audit him or his family or his company for any financial crimes up to the present day. That’s not suspicious at all

Apparently the only way for a straight male expat in Thailand to avoid being labelled a sexpat is to have never dated a Thai woman. Ever. Not once. In any timeline.

@ClarksonsFarm1 Why do farmers still get special treatment when it comes to inheritance? My grandpa started a small building firm, and it really struggled financially when my dad took over. It had to be sold after he passed, which was a shame. Shouldn't we all be treated equally under the law?

What I like about Jeremy Clarkson is that in his latest Series of Clarkson's Farm, he commented that the Inheritance Tax changes that the Labour government tried to put in place last year, were designed to prevent wealthy people from avoiding inheritance tax by buying up farms. He even said, it was aimed at "rich people, like me". He even went as far to say that it wouldn't affect him. But he was campaigning for the benefit of the ordinary farmer who isn't wealthy like he is. Regardless of his original motivations in buying his farm, he is doing a splendid job of raising awareness for agriculture, even showing some humility and transparency in everything he does. - The Beef Farmer

Why do foreigners need to celebrate 90 days in Thailand? Many foreigners living in Thailand ask the same question: why should women provide their address to the immigration office for 90 days if they already have a pink ID card, a yellow book, and permanent residence registration? There are many opinions on this matter. Some foreigners joke that the main purpose of this procedure is to levy 2,000 baht fines on those who show up for their appointments on time. And they say this is the majority. A walking foreign ATM should dispense cash regularly. Others believe the system exists primarily to create queues at immigration offices and additional liability for employees, despite the fact that a person's address is already known to government agencies. To justify their salaries, people need to be busy. And of course, there's room for services to expedite processes. Whatever the reason, the 90-day reporting rule is mandatory for foreigners living in Thailand on a more general basis, and there is a fine for violating it. facebook.com/share/p/1PxY5v…

@R04ch I get that funding can be a problem, but I wish the tourist info was more honest. It always seems to show the attraction in its best light. It's super annoying to trek up a mountain just to find ~

Is there a word for when Thais open an attraction and then decide to completely neglect to invest in maintenance. The amount of rundown places I've come across over the years is just staggering.

@sunstoneflower You'll always wonder about "the path untrodden"! I see others who settle in places where they have no one and struggle. Having my wife's network around has been invaluable from day one.

@chav_khun @sunstoneflower Yep, they have compressed at least a year and a half growing time into a few seconds. 🤣 But must admit they take very easily. We have eaten pineapple from tops that were just thrown away, starting life in our compost heap.

@chav_khun I finally got fed up with being stung, so got a guy in to remove the hive in our roof. Sadly, even with him taking handfuls of bees, he couldn't find the queen. Seems a Thai queen bee is the same size as the workers and difficult to locate.

Feel like a bit of 🐱 now. I've been hit by hornets out here but never European ones. They love a head shot. Add that to my bucket list
ALEXIS ™I ❤️🇷🇼•@dufitalexis1

Four stings. Four different venoms. Knowing the difference helps you respond calmly and correctly. 🐝 Honeybee (Apis mellifera) — barbed sting, left in the skin. Remove it immediately by scraping sideways with a fingernail or card — do not squeeze, as this injects more venom. Venom: apitoxin. Pain level: moderate. Wasp (Vespula vulgaris / Vespula germanica) — smooth sting, can sting multiple times. The wasp withdraws without leaving the sting. Venom: irritant compounds. Pain level: moderate. European hornet (Vespa crabro) — a robust, thicker sting. The European hornet is a native British species and is legally protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It stings only when its nest is directly threatened — it is notably less aggressive than the common wasp in most garden encounters. Venom: potent neurotoxin. Pain level: intense. Do not destroy nests without a genuine threat reason. Note: the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) is an invasive species now established in some parts of southern England. It is smaller than the European hornet, with a dark body and yellow legs, and poses a threat to honeybee colonies. Any suspected sighting should be reported to the Great British Non-Native Species Secretariat via the iRecord app. Violet carpenter bee (Xylocopa violacea) — curved sting. Stings very rarely and only if physically held. Males have no sting at all. Increasingly recorded in southern England as its range expands northward. Venom: local reaction. Pain level: moderate. For any sting: move away from the area, remove the sting if present, apply a cold compress. If you experience signs of a systemic allergic reaction — difficulty breathing, widespread swelling, dizziness — call 999 immediately. 🌿 #GardenWildlife #BeeIdentification #HornetFacts #WildlifeGardening

@ThosMajor A local gave me this advice. Keep the grass short around the house (they hate being exposed) and befriend street dogs. They will pay for the bit of food you give them by scaring the snakes off. Not had a snake in the house now from over 10 years (famous last words😉)
