If you have ADHD kids, forget “hide and go seek.” Teach them games like “figure out where this goes and then keep it there!” 😆 MUCH more helpful life skill Signed, someone who has had to run home 3 times because she can’t remember what is there and what is at the office

Where did you first get the idea that the only acceptable version of yourself is one that involves essentially…not having #ADHD? I’ll go first The lost and found box walk of shame

@Critique_Create . . . it's not that I'm trying to amass tons of likes, it's that I'm sharing something personal with the hopes of supporting others, and when it's personal like this, it feels so disrespectful to take it but erase the human that experienced it and articulated the struggle!

I wish this tweet weren’t plagiarized *constantly.* I wish people understood that my personal experience and struggle is not their quick avenue to internet clout. It hurts, especially from folks who claim to have shared lived experience and should know better.
Sam Dylan Finch@samdylanfinch

ADHD involves so many micromoments of shame. Stepping over the pile of laundry. Re-remembering the bill you still haven’t paid. The sink full of dishes and the fridge leftovers lurking in the back. The small but recurring “I should have” is cumulative and it’s painful.

🧵My best friend (Black woman) & I were pregnant at the same time 18 yrs ago. We both had preeclampsia, hers undiagnosed as her symptoms were written off. I was put on bed rest & hospitalized. She was told to relax. A week after she gave birth, the day my son was born, she died.

#ADHD Reading Hack: If I really want dig into a book, I love listening to the audio version while reading the hardcopy. The audiobook helps me stay focused and on task, while the hardcopy helps me process the information more accurately. I did this with @HowtoADHD's book today.

#longtransplantatie #worddonor

October is also ADHD awareness month. So, let's talk about it... I'm going to start with ADD, since I think a lot of people still think ADD is a diagnosis... \1

ADHDers often feel like we “should” be able to do something because ✨ we’ve done it before ✨ or that our difficulty with focus/productivity isn’t a real disability b/c sometimes we can do it just fine. GUYS. LADIES. GENTLETHEMS. THAT IS THE DISABILITY. The INCONSISTENCY.

@bschlenker People overfocussed on a few elements of game design that can turn quite toxic when implemented by themselves because they encourage competition and not necessarily encourage learning, engagement and exploration for its own sake. Like awarding points and leader boards.

Looks like #gamification had it's "wave" 2010-2013 and it's been on the slow decline ever since. What happened?

@taylortunetracy Oo yes I’m actually working with a cognitive scientist on a rubric to help determine if something is ADHD friendly — it’s a separate tool from the book (and free!) but I can definitely mention it. It’s in Beta still but I’m happy to share if you’d like to try it out :)

@NS_online Hoe komt het dat bij een trein naar Zuid Frankrijk 9 van de 10 opties zijn voorzien van het predikaat "alleen dienstregeling, niet te boeken" Hoe krijg ik een kaartje voor die treinen dan?

Not only is it possible to have ADHD even if you got good grades in school, but it's likely you’ll suffer longer without support or treatment because the people in your life assume that anyone who is smart can't suffer from ADHD.

@johngreen Before you go, thank you for writing some of my favorite books of all time! Is there anywhere else we can find updates from you in the future? Another social media? Newsletter? Carrier pigeon? Screaming into the ether at the same time?
