
@tooshrill @canderaid Renting out a property needs to be worthwhile compared to selling and investing in something else. If selling and investing in stocks/bonds/gold is better, you don't have anywhere to live.

If I understand the YIMBY/Abundance line on housing correctly it's that that the rent is too damn high, but the people who collect and charge rent have nothing to do with this phenomenon, and any solution that involves capping what they can charge for rent is *actually* bad.
