Statement Regarding Jeff Rath’s Public Comments About Jason Lavigne On Sunday, May 24, 2026, during an appearance on David Krayden’s program, Krayden’s Right News, Mr. Jeff Rath publicly referred to me as a “Dani sycophant” and “controlled opposition.” These statements are false, defamatory, irresponsible, and dangerous. Mr. Rath attempted to justify his comments by suggesting that “people have suggested” these claims are true. Rumour is not evidence. Repeating a rumour publicly does not make it true, nor does it excuse the harm caused by broadcasting it to an audience. These types of allegations against me are not new. They began in 2023 after I hosted Donald Best, a former Toronto Police officer and corruption investigator, who had published concerns regarding the fundraising connected to the “Coutts Four” and the handling of funds raised. After that interview, Mr. Bob Blayone publicly accused me of being a “fed” on his show. Those false claims led to an escalation of rumours that I was allegedly connected to Justin Trudeau, CSIS, the RCMP, or other government actors. I have also received threats against myself and my family as a result of these types of reckless public accusations. Mr. Rath has now repeated and reshaped these same baseless allegations, suggesting that I am somehow connected to or controlled by Premier Danielle Smith or her political interests. That claim is false. It is without evidence. It is damaging to my reputation, my work as an independent journalist, and the safety of my family and myself. As a journalist and member of the public, I take these statements seriously. False claims that someone is “controlled opposition” or acting as an agent for political or government interests are not harmless political commentary when presented as fact or when used to undermine a person’s credibility, independence, and safety. A copy of this statement has been sent to Mr. Rath. Mr. Rath is hereby placed on notice that I consider his statements to be defamatory. I reserve all legal rights and remedies available to me, including the right to commence legal proceedings without further notice. However, before taking that step, I am providing Mr. Rath with an opportunity to mitigate the harm he has caused. I am calling on Mr. Rath to issue a public apology and full retraction in the same manner and with similar prominence as the original defamatory statements. That retraction must include a clear public acknowledgement that his claims about me being a “Dani sycophant,” “controlled opposition,” or otherwise controlled by or acting on behalf of Premier Danielle Smith or any government or political actor are baseless, unsupported by evidence, without merit, and were made irresponsibly. This is necessary to begin correcting the damage done to my reputation, my work, and the safety of my family and myself. Jason Lavigne The Lavigne Show

If Canada wants Alberta to stay, it's actually quite simple - just treat Alberta fairly. Here's how Ottawa could do that: 1) Fix the House of Commons so it's proportional to population. 2) Fix the Senate, so it's elected and there are an equal number of seats per province. 3) Repeal the multiple pieces of legislation preventing pipeline and energy project construction and let the private sector get to work. 4) Get rid of the equalization program. 5) Convert transfer payments using a tax point transfer. 6) Give up the "spending power" on issues that are provincial jurisdiction. Note that literally none of these would change things to favour Alberta, they would simply remove existing inequalities to make things fair for all provinces. If the rest of Canada isn't willing to even consider making things fair, why should Alberta stay?

We live in a country that makes you press 1 at the start of every call to speak to someone in English, only to be connected to someone in India who can't. If you want a proper English speaker, press 2 for French. I'm not even kidding, it works: They speak great English.

From Mitch & John Bolton interview of a day ago. Little known fact. All FN Chiefs and Band offices were called 3x to be invited to a full day consultation session in Ponoka. None showed up. Consider themselves consulted. Move ahead.

I get reallllly annoyed with @ABDanielleSmith saying "policies of the last 10 years" Alberta has been getting screwed by Ottawa for 121+ years. Albertans memories are long. Stop trying to minimize this to issues from the last 10 years.

Keith, I respect you. Hard not to. And all voices will have their fair chance to advocate and be heard. This is the opportunity that @ABDanielleSmith has presented us. As for your question: there’s much more to come from us soon. See you on the war path, so to speak. 🫡

To the 'VoteToStay' group: Albertans face real challenges—Ottawa’s policies hurt our economy, public safety, immigration balance, cost of living, and investment. What’s your concrete plan to change Ottawa’s course for Alberta? We need solutions, not just words. In truth, independence remains the only viable path to secure Alberta's future and achieve our potential.

MP Kusie, you speak of unity and a fair deal—but after years of federal harm to Alberta, what tangible steps have you taken to correct Ottawa’s course? Words are one thing—but Albertans need concrete action. What’s your plan to actually secure Alberta’s future? Independence is the only viable path for Alberta to achieve its potential.

Bullsh*t. Mitch Sylvestre invited 48 chiefs in Alberta to a meeting in Panoka. Sat there all day & not a single one showed up. We had very public and open town halls meetings for 2 years all across Alberta... First Nations had every opportunity to join in, but their leadership never did.

Dear fellow Albertans. The deadline to file your 2025 tax return was April 30, 2026, almost a month ago. By now you should have all received your Notice of Assessment from the CRA. Go look at line 42000 "Net federal tax" That the amount of taxes you paid to Ottawa in 2025. For most people, it's about twice as much as what they pay to the provincial government in Edmonton. Now answer this question honestly. What value did the CArney Liberals provide for your hard-earned tax dollars? A proud Canadian military? A secure border? Efficient courts? Low inflation? A competent RCMP? Safer streets? Affordable food?

His Worship Mayor Farkas is right to worry about jobs, investment, housing, public safety and social disorder. But he is wrong to blame Albertans for asking a democratic question about independence. The uncertainty facing Calgary is not caused by citizens debating their future. It is caused by a decade of failed Ottawa policy: capital flight, unaffordable housing, catch-and-release justice, uncontrolled immigration pressures, higher taxes, red tape and federal hostility to the resource economy that built this city. RBC says more than $1 trillion of investment left Canada between 2015 and 2024. Statistics Canada confirms GDP per capita has fallen in consecutive years. That is the real uncertainty. The Quebec analogy is also incomplete. The loss of Montreal head offices was tied to the extreme French language-law known as Bill 101 and the resulting flight of English speaking Quebecers. Calgarians do not need lectures about fear. They need leadership with open eyes. If Mayor Farkas truly wants to protect Calgarians’ jobs, safety and future prosperity, he should at least acknowledge that Ottawa’s policies are a central cause of the crisis—and that Albertans have every right to consider independence as the democratic path to a freer and more prosperous future. On this question, the mayor gets one vote, just like every other Albertan.
Jeromy (Pathfinder) Farkas@JeromyYYC

Voting on whether to have a vote is a ridiculous lack of provincial leadership. Calgary is a globally connected city. Separation uncertainty is costing us jobs. We have real work to do: building homes, improving public safety, fixing infrastructure, growing our economy, and making life better.

Monte, I think you’ll be interested in following the work of the new Alberta Transition Council. @ATCAlberta We will welcome your comments on the draft White Paper transition plan. In the meantime, Albertans concerned about Ottawa’s direction and the harm its policies are causing are still waiting for the pro-Ottawa side to explain its plan. If independence is not the answer, what is your concrete plan to fix Canada, end the capital flight, restore investment confidence, protect Alberta’s economy, and stop Ottawa from doing more of the same? Thank you.
