I quit. Party's over. I am not a luddite, quite the opposite, I love when there's new tech out there that creates new and easy ways to create. It pains me to see this, its something I was once excited for but Nvidia is now treading on ground that is at odds with the artistry and human expression that makes creating special with DLSS5. I'm a hard working artist that manually put in a lot of time and care into recreating and remastering and I'll share some of my work. I wanted to make a proper post that explains why I want to stop so here's a thread why: DLSS5 has taken a step in a direction that minimizes the human element and I don't want any part of. I prefer to stop and focus on original creations rather than have DLSS associated with my work and slandering the real time and effort that goes into it. Something once reputable has become an umbrella term for poor optimization, laziness and now generative AI and its crossed a fine line I am choosing not to tread on. Tech like this wasn't always bad, and isn't without its generative component. In fact, it was incredibly helpful and designed to be used as a tool. I endorsed it and integrated it into my own workflow, the results have the potential to be amazing. It doesn't attempt to create for me, it cannot and does not finish the job on its on. It can only work with what is there. I control the artistic decisions, I recreate the textures, geometry, lighting, and add details as needed. This is the difference from how it and similar tech worked traditionally vs DLSS5 with its generative component. GenAI/LLM's are very bad for the future. They are built on a poor foundation for control and precision and are designed to complete the entire job rather than being tools you can configure precisely in professional editing software and its pushing us in a direction that hurts us all. The human component is important to preserve, that will always be the heart and soul of anything creative. I won't be stopping the things I work on completely, I'm going to finish up the final few projects I started but I'll be shifting entirely to creating original works.

I hope Nvidia goes bankrupt over this. Or the back pedal so hard that all current leadership is promptly removed and ALL AI slop technology is deleted and cancelled.

This will always be the best explanation on how a game can or cannot be fun.
