@Disintegrator @kauljade I think this depends entirely on what kind of book we're talking about. If it's non-fiction and you're only interested in specific parts of what the book is covering, I can understand wanting to skim some parts, but if it's a proper narrative? I feel like you shouldn't skim read.

Best food scene in America 1. Chicago 2. New York (wants to be Chicago so bad) 3. Seattle (sneaky good all over) 4. LA (a lot of over the top nonsense) 5. New Orleans (literally no variation)

@NateSilver538 we're very clearly into the 'what the fuck are we doing here' phase

@daisyxbfish just because you 'get to' do something doesnt make it not weird
English

@Disintegrator Ur not gonna make me feel weird for doing a very normal thing on twitter and expressing my opinion. If u get to say something in the replies i get to respond to it, it’s a public platform and so is ur original tweet. If u can’t handle that then go private ig idk

You skim parts of books you claim to have read?? Who does that
Disintegrator@Disintegrator
@kauljade depends on the book and your reading style. once people realize that youre not going to be tested on the book and its totally okay to skim over parts you think are boring then reading becomes much more enjoyable.
English

@daisyxbfish so appalling that you decided to weirdly call someone out on the internet about it, i guess.
English

@Disintegrator There is a massive loss, imo, in not reading the text as it was written just bc parts of it aren’t as interesting or enjoyable. But you do you, I just find it utterly appalling to read a book that way.

@zerohedge Everyone's talking about the price. Nobody's asking why the #1 AI company needs to buy credibility from tech podcasters...
English

@ChicSheri @kauljade yeah i always have to rewind because i realize i have no idea whats happening.
English

@Disintegrator @kauljade For me, I don’t really feel like either is faster unless I raise the speed on the audiobook. I don’t read nearly as many audiobooks as I do physical or ebooks. I agree about getting distracted… I take a break if I’m unfamiliar with a word so I can add it to my dictionary app.
English

@daisyxbfish its not though. im literally focusing on the parts i enjoy, so there is no loss.
English

@Disintegrator Everyone reads for themselves. I never said it was a competition and using the word “claim” doesn’t automatically denote that. It’s your loss, I guess
English

@ChicSheri @kauljade its different for everyone but reading a written book is much faster for me than listening to an audiobook. the only thing that slows me down with a written book is getting distracted; in that instance the audiobook keeps going on its own and so thats faster kinda.

@TampaBayTre @thorku Uh, please start a podcast with Dalton.
