@Nathan94217721 @juskeeprunnin Ending colonialism doesn't entail a genocide of the white people. It requires that aboriginals be given the same rights and political representation as anyone else. They have property rights to their ancestral lands, can speak whichever language they want, vote, be voted, etc.

@ElAvatarTang @juskeeprunnin Oh, so all the descendants of Europeans left did they? The Natives took back control and that’s why only native languages are spoken in the area now, right? Oh wait, no, you’re almost all speaking Spanish, Portuguese or English and continued to abuse the natives for centuries.

The Expulsion Myth is so, so wrong. The illegal Argentine garrison, comprised of mutinous soldiers, were expelled by the British commander. Civilian settlers (gauchos, creole) were encouraged to STAY. Argentine ships supported the claim the British DIDN’T expell civilians.
Lautaro@lautarojrq

Todos los que afirman que Argentina nunca tuvo población en las Malvinas, sepan que es sencillamente mentira. Hasta 1833 hubo gobernador argentino, asentamientos argentinos y familias argentinas. Fueron todos expulsados por la fuerza.

@Nathan94217721 @juskeeprunnin "Fine on our end", the dispute still exists wether you acknowledge it or not. Colonialism in the Americas wasn't legitimised, it was ended.

@ElAvatarTang @juskeeprunnin The dispute is fine on our end, you’re the ones constantly trying to start fights with us. A few hundred years of colonialism was apparently fine to legitimise the presence of Europeans in Argentina, so the same is true for the Falklands unless you all pack up and coming back

@ElAvatarTang @stiffylov3r @Crow_T_Lorebot @aledornell First discovery is not undetermined unless you want to say maybe some random tribe found it 200 years earlier but we don’t know. France certainly wasn’t the first to settle dfkm thats just pure cope to try and make the Spanish claim stronger so argentines can claim it

@ElAvatarTang @avanticult yes. after the lexington raid and the argentine mutiny the islands were almost entirely depopulated. so what? britain took back the islands they first settled in 1765. how does the falklanders' right to self-determination not apply 200 years later?

I have been made aware of chronically online ‘anti-imperialist’ (when in actuality they’re apologetic for military juntas, and fascist) Argentines trying to claim the falklands yet again. I wish to remind them that, the Falklands are British and they always shall be. Thank you!

@Nathan94217721 @juskeeprunnin It's been 200 years because the UK always refused to settle the dispute. No amount of time will legitimise their presence.

@ElAvatarTang @juskeeprunnin 1831, regardless of what the people living in those places actually want? Because you’d be losing a hell of a lot of land that way too.

@jakey_joke @avanticult A few tens of the original population remained, hundreds of colonists were brought. The UK completely reshaped the demographic composition of the islands after taking them by force, while the dispossessed state protested their occupation. Self determination doesn't apply.

@Nathan94217721 @juskeeprunnin I don't think the islanders have to leave, but a population brought by a foreign power to a military occupied territory still contested by the dispossessed state is, indeed, implanted.

@ElAvatarTang @juskeeprunnin Do you think all populations on earth implanted since the 1830s should be removed? Because Argentina would have to remove most of its southern population.

@Merengueatang4 @juskeeprunnin Neither Argentines nor Brits are entitled to external self determination (the kind we're actually discussing). That's a right reserved for colonized peoples.

@ElAvatarTang @juskeeprunnin That's like saying because the original Britons were colonised by the Germans, Norse, and French, that invalidates our modern right to self determination. Or like saying because Argentina is made up of genocidal settler Europeans they don't have that right either...

@Warge6 @juskeeprunnin The UK abandoned their settlement in 1774. They were uninhabited when Argentina settled.
