The flip side of this is wondering how a state can know this and still allow safety to degrade. It gets to a point where even the basic practice of justice looks extreme.

@planefag The were made in an era where attrition was an accepted part of war. Our tactics have changed but the need for heavy attack platforms hasn’t. You still need that large caliber gun and large bomb load to rip up concrete and armor. You can’t fit that in a supersonic aircraft.

They shot several boats. It's not significantly cheaper to operate than an F-15E at this point but less capable. Stop it. Let it die. If you want a dedicated attack aircraft, we can have that conversation. The A-10 is not it. It's based on outdated concepts and technology.
