@_everythingism If they want customers to pay 3 times the price, the only reason is "no alternative". I think that's why they keep emphasizing that "AI will replace jobs"; they want students to choose other careers, then will be forced to use "AI" in the future due to a lack of skilled workers.

@ExplodeMeow102 However it's an interesting question how the economics of this all work out. Right now AI companies are losing money and if you are a serious user of OpenAI or Anthropic you could be costing them two or three times what you paid.

OpenAI, which squandered its tremendous lead and is now missing its projections, is in trouble. There’s no two ways about it.

@GaryMarcus To make things worse, it seems like AI companies are going to get hit hard by energy price increases due to Trump's war in Iran. Some irony there considering many of them supported Trump.

@MrEwanMorrison I always conduct a test: Ask LLM, search for the content of my "Yu-Gi-Oh!" teaching. Due to game updates, it's no longer possible to play according to those guides, so I'm the sole author. But no LLM could correctly answer the questions in my guides... full of "hallucination".

I don't understand why this moron keeps saying that. If it's true (which it isn't), why the hell are you working on building such a destructive tech? If it's a lie (which it is), what are you trying to achieve by spreading this fear among people who don't understand how the tech works? AI content is swamping social media. Slop fake photos, videos or people trying to pass themselves off as a writer or an expert generated by an AI app. It’s destroying authenticity. It’s absolute trash.

AI anti's have actually made it significantly harder for creators to be honest about AI use. I watched a gaming content creator who made a 20 minute video wherein he had two 10 second bits that were AI generated. He announced them as such in the video. The comment section absolutely flamed him. Ripped him to shreds. Video was probably wrecked by downvotes. Have seen this happen so many times that I know for a fact they've made it much more likely for creators to just never self-report. Best thing you could possibly do if you want to create AI-enhanced media or media with AI generated content within it is never, ever announce it, and make sure it's high quality enough to not be very obvious

@MrEwanMorrison No; This is the best opportunity for people to see clearly that this "AI" is not "smart" at all. In Hong Kong, TVB use "AI translation", resulting in news reports containing "anus" (you read that right) and various inexplicable translations, which were ridiculed by the public.

Before, Subreddits were ran by the people who created them, and they could keep their own rules up to site saftey minimums In response to Trump's popularity and as part of an afterwards well documented (bragged about, actually) coordinated effort to stop Trump, Reddit installed "super mods" which they selected who had ultimate say. At first this was only on large communities, but the policy spread, and the same pattern was always true. The super mod would be a hyper leftist LGBTQIAMMTS+ activist/communist and would force out any original mods who were left of center, selectively enforce rules where they could, shadow ban and change rules where they couldn't, and outright ban man MANY large communities. Over the years they used various different excuses, but it all stems from a study that was released at the time that I 100% remember not just reading but doing a report for the show I worked on at the time about it which stated that any loosely or unmoderated communities online inevitably become "right wing" It was basically at that EXACT moment that all western leftists and their aligned allies turned against free speech. At first they shadowed it by saying that "we only mean freedom of speech, not freedom of reach" or that platforms could "enforce any rules they want" and other such garbage It's when Obama started pushing the "Net Neutrality" stuff, which was an overt attempt to give their pet tech companies the ability to sensor anybody speaking out against the technocratic leftist domination plans. I know this sounds like conspiracy theory crap... but it's all actually very well documented... again, and one point the left was bragging about it openly when they thought they had already won (rather like a comic villain monologing)
