Liberals will lose the election excuse for ignoring Palestine, but they'll gain the "fuck you activists and Muslims and Arab Americans you cost us the election" revenge excuse instead 👍

They are distributing awards for "Western journalism" on Gaza and our blood hasn't even dried. Gaza has been, since day one, a nice awards hunt, so everyone jumped on the bandwagon. The lowness of the West never ceases to impress me. Astonishing.

🚨: In an email leaked to me, the @ICRC, & apparently other INGOs in Gaza, have reduced their employees' salaries by 1000 Shekels (344 USD), although the living conditions are only getting worse. One employee told me that the INGOs informed them, "Your war has gone on too long." The ICRC has appealed for $2,317,594,374 for its operations in 2026. This year, the EU alone announced €458 million in humanitarian aid for the Middle East, including Palestine, specifically to be delivered through international organisations like the ICRC. Instead of balancing out the budget gap in other ways, the people of Gaza living a genocide pay the price. This is a very unfair decision and must be reviewed and rescinded.

While I appreciate spokesperson Pat Griffiths of the Red Cross addressing the situation in Gaza, his salary is definitely way higher than his Palestinian colleagues' salaries which have been reduced by half by the organisation this month under the pretext of better market prices, contrary to what is actually happening: x.com/AbubakerAbedW/… Hundreds of their Gaza employees' families are reliant on them to provide food and life necessities. The irrational and inequitable cut of wages by the ICRC only deepens their suffering. This must be a priority for the organisation, since it takes the unanimous belief that all lives matter and not to unfairly treat people in Gaza because of "their prolonged war". I call on the @ICRC to review this decision and retract it for the sake of their employees' families who live in tents and dilapidated shelters under horrible circumstances.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) field hospital in Rafah is one of the few functioning facilities in southern Gaza, overwhelmed by needs as the wider health system collapses, spokesperson Pat Griffiths tells Al Jazeera.

The EU claims that the “Hitler-Stalin Pact of 1939” enabled WWII. It omits ten crucial facts: - The Soviet Union was not even among the first ten countries to enter into treaties and non-aggression pacts with Nazi Germany. In 1939 alone, Lithuania, Romania, Denmark, Italy, Estonia and Latvia all signed non-aggression pacts with Hitler. Poland entered into one as far back as 1934. - The Soviet Union tried to form an anti-fascist alliance throughout the 1930s, and was repeatedly rebuffed by European powers. - Despite that, the Soviet Union was the most powerful bulwark against fascism before the war. The International Brigades in Spain represent the most concrete example of organised antifascist military resistance before Hitler’s invasion of Poland. These Brigades were led by communist parties armed by the Soviet Union, who were abandoned by Western “democracies” and their policies of "non-intervention” which simply left German and Italian intervention uncontested. - In that same tradition, Stalin offered to send one million troops to deter Hitler’s aggression during the 1938 Sudetenland crisis. Poland and Romania objected, while France and Britain decided to pursue appeasement. That appeasement aimed in part at ensuring that Germany’s energies were directed eastwards, against communism. - The Soviet Union was the primary target of German imperialism. The USSR’s leadership was aware of this from the early 1930s — and Germany’s leadership did not hide the fact. Hitler had repeatedly promised that Germany would be the “bulwark" of the West against “Bolshevism”, a position that found broad sympathies among the Western ruling classes. Auschwitz was first built to house Soviet POWs, 3.5 million of whom were exterminated during the war. - Nazi Germany was simply the turning inwards of Western European colonialism. It was in modern-day Namibia that Germany’s Imperial Chancery recorded perhaps the first use of the term Konzentrationslager — the concentration camp — to describe an instrument of mass extermination. - Adolf Hitler drew particular inspiration from the US settler-colonial model. He remarked approvingly how the US settlers had “gunned down the millions of Redskins to a few hundred thousand and now keep the modest remnants under observation in a cage”. He sent jurists to study the US Jim Crow laws, which formed the basis of the infamous Nuremberg Laws. - The Red Army liberated Auschwitz, then liberated Europe. If not for the US, which moved quickly to suffocate the rising communist movements on the continent, we might have seen socialism rise at least in Greece, Italy, France and, eventually, Portugal. - After the war, West Germany quickly reneged on the Potsdam Agreement, filled its security services with former Nazis. NATO, also filled with former Nazis, was founded to wage war on socialism and anti-colonial struggles. In the process it resuscitated the Wehrmacht and paved the way for the German revanchism we are seeing today. - As a result, we have endured decades of US-led imperial hegemony, whose effects are a dying planet and tens of millions of lives stolen by imperialist wars and sanctions alone. That hegemony has absorbed and expanded the historical mission of fascism, carrying it forward into a new century. Gaza is the clearest expression of that process today — but it is by no means the only one.
EUvsDisinfo@EUvsDisinfo

The Kremlin claims the Soviet Union “liberated Europe” in 1945. It omits one crucial fact: WWII was enabled by the Hitler–Stalin Pact of 1939, which carved up Europe between two totalitarian regimes. For millions in Central and Eastern Europe, Soviet “liberation” meant occupation, repression, deportations, and decades without freedom. The Soviet Union was an occupier. Russia is an occupier in Ukraine today.

There is a massive pile of rubble from a building next to where I live, and it is infested with hundreds of rodents. We can’t sleep at night because of them; they are terrifyingly aggressive and carry diseases and filth. I’m exhausted by this situation.

Something is spreading in Gaza, quietly and rapidly, and almost no one is paying attention. Over the past few days, we have seen a sharp rise in cases of gastroenteritis at the clinic. Yesterday alone, 32 out of 84 patients came in with the same complaint. One of those cases involved an entire family of seven. All sick. All at once. In a place where nearly everything has collapsed, and where those in power are more concerned with survival than responsibility, there is no functioning system left to track outbreaks or investigate their causes. So we asked the patients ourselves, and a pattern slowly began to emerge. Almost all of them had consumed one of two things: frozen fish widely sold in local markets, or frozen meat distributed through international aid organizations. These products often remain stranded at border crossings for long periods, waiting for permission to enter. During colder months, those delays may have gone unnoticed. But now, as summer approaches, time is no longer neutral. Food spoils quietly and invisibly, and then it reaches people’s tables. There is another layer to this crisis. Many of the shops selling these frozen products are simply not equipped to store them safely. Even large supermarkets in Gaza cut electricity to their freezers for long hours each day. The result is predictable: food that appears safe, but is not. Food that feeds people, and then makes them sick. This is not a coincidence. It is the outcome of a system that no longer functions. There is no proper oversight, no effective regulation, and no institutions capable of protecting people from what they eat, drink, or endure. And this is perhaps the most dangerous part: these are not isolated problems. They accumulate. They build on one another. Over time, they create a reality in which even the most basic human acts, like eating, become a risk. These conditions will not resolve themselves. They require governance, accountability, and real institutions that exist to protect people. None of that exists right now. So the pattern will continue. More illness. More preventable suffering. More silent crises that no one officially records. And in a place already pushed beyond its limits, even something as simple as a meal can become the beginning of another emergency. If this continues, the danger will no longer be hunger alone. It will be something more insidious: a reality in which people are forced to choose not between food and no food, but between food and sickness. And that is the moment survival itself stops feeling like survival at all. #WoundedGaza

“I’m from Gaza, and I have a question for you”. In this first video of our new series, children in Gaza speak directly to the people sailing with the Global Sumud Flotilla and to all of us watching. Their words are the anchor of this mission: the reality on the ground, the people living it and the refusal to let Gaza be reduced to headlines. Listen. Share. And keep asking what it will take to end the siege and stop the genocide.

One of the hundred reasons why I have been sailing with the Sumud Flotilla is that Palestinians in Gaza should not have to crowdfund their survival via social media. Lift the blockade, let the flotilla deliver aid and people to help, and open a maritime humanitarian corridor

Last time I was in Cuba I met a man whose mother was dying an extraordinarily painful death from rickets. She was 100% treatable with Vitamin D and calcium, which are in our breakfast cereal in the US. So yes I think it’s good to bring vitamins and medical supplies to Cuba.

I hear Thiago & Saif will be released. That is great! NOW ALL OF US must keep pressing governments so that Apartheid Israel releases the thousands of Palestinians held in its torture centers. Ahmed joined the advocacy as soon as he was freed. What an example. We missed you Ahmed!

Israeli settlers blocked children in Masafer Yatta from playing football on their village field threatened with demolition. The settlers sat before them chanting in Hebrew to intimidate them, while the children watched helplessly. How much longer will this continue?
