Can someone explain to me why INEOS and some United fans love something cheap.

Ederson is done, now we focus on Tonali and Fernandes. I think both players will fit into Carrick system and Tonali will be an upgrade, but if we’re to sign just one, I’ll prefer we sign Tonali And now it’s clear that Anderson doesn’t want us, then we shouldn’t want him either.

Comparing Matheus Fernandes to Alex Scott isn't the point paying £80m for a player from a relegated side is just bad business. Just because we spent over £120m on Mbeumo and Cunha last season doesn't mean we have infinite PSR headroom to blindly throw £130m+ on Fernandes and Scott combined. The market is crazy, but INEOS shouldn't cave to it. Spending that much upfront completely paralyzes our budget for a world class center back, Left wing and striker. There is a line between paying for quality and getting fleeced.

For everyone saying Matheus Fernandes is too expensive at £70-80 million, I’d rather pay that than sign Alex Scott as an alternative for £50 Million . And yes, Bournemouth probably aren’t selling for anything less than £50 million either. Like I’ve said before, the market is crazy right now. Considering Matheus Fernandes fits the profile, is young, and is already Premier League proven, I think United should pay the fee. We won’t regret it. I think the fans are starting to ask for less. We signed Mbeumo & Cunha (over 120M) last season. I believe INEOS still have enough money to sign both Fernandes and Scott as well.

It doesn’t work like that because it’s not just about the upfront cash, it’s about PSR amortization. Under PSR rules, a player's transfer fee is divided across the length of their contract. Buying both Matheus Fernandes and Alex Scott for £130m means taking on massive combined yearly amortization costs plus two separate sets of wages on our books. Tying up that much financial headroom on two young, unproven profiles instead of securing one elite, transformative midfielder like Tonali is a massive gamble. It completely kills our flexibility to fix the rest of the squad, especially when we still desperately need a world-class center back and striker

Like for instance a LB, a LW and a striker
So spending 250 on MFs and possibly another 250 on forwards and LB is going to strain the acct book with what I am seeing
Which is why they are reducing the cost

I know i have said £125M is to much for Anderson is because I value both of them at same price which will be £80M but since West Ham are relegated I just thought the price would drop to £50M
But £70M isn't bad

I’ve said plenty of positive things about INEOS lately, but if they don’t sign Matheus Fernandes, we’ll regret it. Even Madrid and PSG are trying to sign him.
If we ever get to the point where £70M is considered too much for our priority signing, then I don’t know what this club is anymore.
We’re Manchester United, not Brighton. If there’s a signing who can take the club to the next level, we should simply go out there and get him.
