I think its likely that the Covid-19 vaccine failure in the US was a marketing issue. If the government had presented the vaccine as limited and only available to the wealthy and powerful and/or health care professionals, people would have fought to get it.

@RichardGrenell “The stock market is soaring” is hyperbole. The S&P 500 is up 8% this year. The stock markets of most other countries are up much more, including China’s, which is up 35%.

@RichardGrenell Egg price increases were not related to the prior administration’s policy, and the price declines are not related to the current administration’s policy.

@RichardGrenell Hi Richard, some of what you said is incorrect. Consumer prices, as measured by the consumer price index, are at an all-time high. The rate of inflation has been falling since mid 2022 when money supply contracted. Retail gas prices are higher than 6 months ago.

@JeremyDSchwartz Jeremy, What is the professor talking about? Didn’t Trump nominate Powell as Chairman? This is “his guy.” Why does the professor think that Trump would own his mistakes in Chairman selection or economic/fiscal policy? Has he ever before in other areas of life?

Elon Musk has said: A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle. Do you agree?

@EPBResearch Hey Eric, I recently started the same journey after coming across a post by Dr. Paddy Barrett. He posts some really great health and fitness content with a medical perspective. x.com/paddy_barrett/…

A high V02 Max is the metric most closely linked to a longer life. But what is V02 Max? And more importantly, how do you increase it? Because most people are doing it wrong. 📕Make Sure To Bookmark✅ 🧵👇 /1

As I’ve been feeling better, I’ve been trying to gain back the fitness I’ve lost over the past year. I’m trying to improve Vo2 Max, decrease resting HR and improve HRV. I’m not sure to what extent chemotherapy has impacted metrics like HRV, but I’m sure some. I’m working back slowly. I’m trying to do 3-4 sessions a week with an average HR in zone 2 (about 140). Right now I’m doing 25 min sessions. 1-2 sessions a week I try to accumulate as much Zone 5 time as possible (175+) Any fitness buffs have suggestions on this for these goals?

@DannyDayan5 Why wouldn’t it be 5.2%? Current‑dollar GDP increased 5.2 percent at an annual rate, or $360.0 billion, in the second quarter to a level of $28.63 trillion. The price index for gross domestic purchases increased 2.3 percent in the second quarter.

Since the last hike 1y ago: -Nominal GDP went from 5.95% to 5.9% now -CPI went from 3% to 3% now -NFP went from 184k to 206k now -Housing prices went from 3% YoY to 6.3% now -SPX went up 20% -IG OAS spreads went from 128 bps to 93 bps now Cutting rates here would be pure lunacy

Here’s a real world example. My friend, a pathologist, had a sewer pump problem at 6 pm. He was charged $150 for the plumber showing up plus $120/hr. Two days later he’s waiting for 3 hrs after work for a parathyroid frozen that will pay him $58. This isn’t sustainable.

Maybe we should lobby congress to link our fee schedule to the market-based plumbing fee schedule. Can we be reimbursed the same as snaking a drain to make an interpretation about whether a human being has a life-altering disease and needs therapy?

Per the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there are 482,700 licensed plumbers in the US. There are about 20,000 board certified pathologists. Who on X has gotten a plumber to come work in the middle of the night for $58? I submit that the law of supply and demand has been usurped.

After 9 years of training, a pathologist in 2024 will get paid $35.36 to diagnose a person’s cancer, compared to $45 in 2000. That is a 45% decrease in inflation-adjusted income. 0.006% of the US population is trained to do this job. When do we say enough is enough?

@MichaelKantro I recall S&P 500 forward earnings estimates released in 2021 for 2022 being $250 initially. Is that correct?

Treasury auctions can give us clues to the health or problems of the entire US financial system. But what are those clues and how can you tell? Time for a Treasury 🧵👇

@JeremyDSchwartz Hi Jeremy, in Prof Siegel’s weekly commentary he notes housing starts and durable goods were very strong last week with no signs of economic weakness. Aren’t those still down 10-15% from cycle highs? Aren’t permits (-25% from highs) and starts highly correlated?
