@TristanBauman @nicbarkeragain very clearly many people don't need lossless playback lol, that is not spotify's "primary job"
English

@nicbarkeragain You can play the nitpicking game over desktop UI all you want, but Spotify literally has one primary job and that’s to present the music to you as the artist intended. And they don’t. They don’t offer lossless or otherwise master-quality audio. I don’t care about the way it looks

@DomingueJordan @umichvoter americans have been dying in palestine and yall don't actually give a fuck cuz they're arabs
English

@umichvoter Putting American tourist, diplomats, service members, Israeli civilians (Arabs/muslims/jews) in danger, and forever ending the possibility of a Palestinian state. Yeah whoever supports cutting defensive infrastructure is antisemitic and just wants to harm Jews.

There we go, switched it to defensive infrastructure blockade (iron dome)
Waiting for AOC, Bernie and most of the progressive caucus to flip on that issue first. They don't agree

@maiamindel the gandhi family didn't change their name, indira just married a guy whose last name was gandhi. don't think the Nehrus needed to change their surnames for any political gain anyway

@Opaopa13 @girldrawsghosts yeah especially because a 12% clickthrough rate on ads would be pretty good. 12% buy rate sounds impossible
English

@girldrawsghosts Along with everything else wrong with it, Twitter has access to objective data like clickthrough rate. My guess is some guy told him the numbers suck, and Musk decided he would do an internet poll to prove they're actually secretly good.

@markgadala this is not a brand new game lol. it took the disassembly of an existing pokemon game and essentially changed the sprites and text. you can see in this idiotic video that even the mechanics are completely unchanged and make no sense in any context.

Deeply funny that this is why they’re having our “secretary of war” working on ostensibly while the administration prepares for war with Iran

Lenovo has replaced the right control key on their otherwise-pretty-nice latest X1 Carbon (warranty replacement) with a copilot key. Fine. I won't begrudge some Microsoft PM "AI impact" in his self-review. But know what I do begrudge? The scancodes, plural.
See, the copilot key is defined to emit not only a new scancode (0x6e), understood as F23 key (which archeologists believed wasn't a real key, but a legendary signifier of excess), but also left shift and left meta (Windows key). When you type the copilot key, the PC firmware sends the machine left-shift-down left-meta-down f23-down f23-up left-meta-up left-shift-up.
That's a problem for remapping the copilot key back to right-control though. Even if we interpret 0x6e as right-control, we get a bunch of other modifiers we don't need along with, a press of copilot-r gets read as control-meta-shift-r, which is not what I want.
Why did they do this? I have no idea. 0x6e by itself would have sufficed to identify the new key. All the other neokeys that seemed like good ideas at the time got normal scancodes. F23 would have been fine. The scancode 0x6e is so uncommon Linux had to be patched to recognize it.
I'm determined to have a right control key, however, so now I run keyd to present a fake virtual keyboard to Wayland. Whenever it sees a left-shift-down or left-meta-down, it waits a few milliseconds to see whether an F23 has arrived. If it has, it synthesizes a right-control press. If it hasn't, it forwards the modifier presses.
Now there's a whole new stage in the input processing pipeline, and extra input latency, that exists solely because AI is so special that it demands not only a new key, but for that ceremonial key to be carried on a litter of modifier bits as it parades into the OS and commands that inference happen now.

@viceroy_gaga where is this chart from? altruistic surrogacy is legal and heavily regulated in India

@Duderichy If they maintained their top 1% status wouldn't you expect them to account for 20% of the top 5%? Or is that bad maths? ._.
