Arne Slot has responded to Mohamed Salah's comments about standards at Liverpool: “The standards are not only important in the gym. It’s also on the pitch. Okay. You understand me? Without me saying anything?” “I wish I was able to say what I feel at this moment but I can’t, So, how will I answer that question then?” “As I said, I completely agree with him [Salah] how important these standards are. I think they (standards) are in a good place at the moment.” “I think it also makes sense that younger players – it doesn’t have to be the new players, it can be the seven-year-old that comes from the Academy – they usually gets the example of players like Mo and others for them to understand and to know what it takes to play every three days at this level.” “I see – and I think – that our younger players have improved in this already. I am completely convinced that we have enough players next season – and, add to that, the ones that we will sign – to put the standards exactly into the place they are needed.”

As frustrating as Liverpool's season has been, Arne Slot's tactical intentions remain extremely positive. 4-2-1-3 build-up with the ability to play short or go direct, three triangle paradigm in attack, diamond press out of possession. It won a league before. It can work again.

Almost all of Liverpool’s issues this season stem from basically a lack of a consistent XI either because: 1) We had to bed in a lot of new players 2) Unfortunate injuries We haven’t been able to gain any rhythm as a unit or get into good form as a collective. It’s a classic transition season. The best thing for it will be to get Champions League qualification and then finally close out the season so we can (if we’re smart) rotate and rest key players before the World Cup and start making plans for next season. There’s nothing more to say about this season. There’s no point getting upset. We had the highest high last season. This season has had some of the lowest lows right from the beginning. But this is what life is all about. Nothing is linear. What defines us is if we can pick ourselves back up off the floor and move forward even stronger than before. I have no interest in being a moaner. I don’t think it’s a good use of anyone’s time.
