@NickyFrank30 @SER1897 So how should voters reconcile legitimate concerns about candidates' "character" issues, or their belief that their failures in office would bring about the extinction of the Democratic Party? I feel like if Dems win in '28, that's their one "do-over" and they won't get another.

@SER1897 Do they think it will convince people not to vote for him in the primary? Because it won’t. This type of this is blackmail. It’s abusive behavior against other Democrats and why nobody likes them.

A lot of trans people have said they won’t vote for Newsom under any circumstance. I think that’s a mistake (considering that any Republican would be worse on trans rights). But many people I respect insist this is the only way to make it clear how seriously they take the issue.

Hasan Piker says he'll vote for a third party candidate if the Democratic nominee is Gavin Newsom. Reminder that Piker is not a Democrat, but a millionaire who makes money by fomenting political discord. newsweek.com/hasan-piker-de…

@NickyFrank30 Interesting take -- that's what most people/news outlets are saying. But others spun it as deliberately teaching Malinowski (and other Ds with similar stances) a "lesson" by ensuring the eventual D nominee was the "weakest" in the general.

@NickyFrank30 In any case, it feels very much like the Texas primaries and the sentiment expressed by The Bulwark's voter-focus groups, where most voters didn't care about the labels and just wanted someone "who can win."

@JRileyMW That style of ConservaDem wasn’t even competing in these districts.

Absolute disaster for the Left in Chicago. At least they’ll probably get Stratton, but Pritzker is definitely more responsible for that.
Taniel@Taniel

Chicago's 4 open primaries: #IL02: Donna Miller up on Jesse Jackson Jr. 41/30 (40%+ in). #IL07: La Shawn Ford up on Melissa Conyears-Ervin 23/20 20% (half in). #IL08: Melissa Bean up on Junaid Ahmed 33/25 (nearly half in). #IL09: Daniel Biss up on Kat Abughazaleh 30/24 (79% in).

@NickyFrank30 I mean, I just have a hard time seeing Stratton, Biss, Ford, and even Miller pulling a Henry Cuellar or Notorious MGP/Sinema-Manchin move when they get to Washington.

@umichvoter If Kat has moved to Rogers Park, she'd be living well within the confines of the 9th District.

@dunadanjets @JacobRubashkin @EmissaryOfNight Meng wins, and then has a tougher-than-expected time winning the general (as any Dem will going forward) because the D voters there vote Republican now.

@JacobRubashkin @EmissaryOfNight NY-6, Grace Meng, a Dem party apparatchik who holds an important seat on approps facing a progressive challenger in a district Zohran Mamdani barely won in the 2025 Primary. New rebellious Dem primary electorate? Or will establishment authority carry the day?

As happens to me seemingly every year, I always intend to pick a young developmental LB (and I know there are good ones), but I'm so concerned about '27 holes that I focus on other positions (edge, TE, eventual RT, RG, CB2 replacements) and by then the LBs I like are gone.

Crockett was one of the few elected Ds who supported Harris AND didn't turn on her after her loss. Unsurprising Harris would back her. What Democrats of all ideologies don't understand is talking about faith may "code" as moderate, but Talarico is more lefty-populist on policy.

@GregABedard @BostonSportsBSJ 3 Up: 1. Entire defense, especially D-line. Special shoutout to Barmore. 2. Schooler. 3. Mack Hollins. 3 Down: 1. The entire O-line -- haven't been able to run the ball effectively or manhandle D-lineman all season. 2. Drake's pocket presence. 3. All non-Hollins pass catchers.

Two potential permutations of a redrawn NY11. Both would be ~Harris+3. Should be lean D for 2026 & 2028, with potential to flip R during a midterm wave. Fascinating mix of urban elites and the white ethnic, suburban middle class. (h/t @maevehove + NY Supreme Court)

@MichaelLangeNYC @maevehove First map seems more likely if the argument is about not diluting votes from non-whites, as the second map takes Asian and Hispanic voters from the Lower East Side and shoves them in with a Brooklyn majority-white district. In either case, I'm predicting a Malliotakis win.

@allymutnick Yeah, this has all the makings of "Goldman isn't suited for a district primarily based in Staten Island" and "Malliotakis is the 2020s version of Deborah Pryce."

NEWS: NY lower court strikes down #NY11 but the big test will be whether it holds up on appeal If all goes well for Dems, they net one seat by dooming GOP Rep Nicole Malliotakis AND Rep Dan Goldman could avoid a primary with Brad Lander Full ruling: punchbowl.news/164002_2025_mi…

#BREAKING: Justice Pearlman has ruled that New York’s 11th Congressional District is unconstitutional under the New York constitution. He orders the NY Redistricting Commission to reconvene and draw a new congressional map by Feb. 6, 2026.
