Seen this in my own personal life. People I know who used to be committed Democrats sharing Tucker Carlson stuff on social media because of his stance on Israel and Iran. I remember seeing him speak at the RNC and thinking “is this what watching Barack Obama in 2004 was like?”

Agree - the number of leftists and Muslims and just apolitical folks I meet who now love Carlson and say they’d be willing to vote for him for president is off the charts. Democrats and liberals and ‘progressives against Palestine’ really left a lane wide open for him, as they did for Trump in 2016 and again in 2024.

Sure Fetterman ended up sucking but let’s remember he won EVERY county in his primary, including Philadelphia. You DO NOT win Philadelphia in a Democratic Senate primary without A LOT of black people voting for you. He dominated that primary across the board.

The Pennsylvania senate race was actually more sinister than people remember. Black democrats said Fetterman should be rejected for the incident where he pulled a gun on a Black jogger for no reason. Leftists ignored, and even mocked, those concerns because they wanted to give the middle finger to Black democrats.

Aham in particular is a riot. When he gets criticism after the book comes out he and West suddenly starts using they/them to refer to him in a transparently cynical bid to shame readers out of criticizing a non-binary, and when that didn’t work he pivots to “I support Palestine!”

When Obama sent Iran $400m + $1.3bn in interest in 2016 Trump called it "insane" and he and others spent a decade mocking the idea of "pallets of cash" even though it was Iran's own money, American prisoners were released, courts were likely to require the U.S. payment, and Iran had just agreed to significant and verified reductions and restrictions on its nuclear program for 15+ years. Now Trump is giving Iran up to ten times that amount of revenue--one of the most significant measures of sanctions relief provided to the Islamic Republic since its founding--in exchange for marginal and temporary relief from the big increase in oil prices his actions have caused, without any concessions from Tehran, and even as Iran continues to target the United States, its allies, and world oil supplies. No way to read as anything other than desperate recognition of the situation Trump's own actions have created and the lack of available alternatives for dealing with it.

@NateBlanchett I knew actual Black people who had been in similar situations during the pandemic — chasing down someone with a shotgun who was breaking into their car, etc. I am obviously not encouraging vigilante behavior but putting it into the context of why the incident wasn’t disqualifying
