@dbtips101 Been toying with the idea. Would you run this technique as an off M.O.D. 1/4s technique?

Catch Technique Drill with high school DBs. Working on staying square, holding your line and locking on. Great drill for slot cornerbacks and red zone man skills. Check out over 100 DB tips in my book 101 DB Tips—The Ultimate DB resource: 101DBtips.com.

The morning started out with stress of being a head football coach. The afternoon & night has ended with daddy/daughter night with cheese dip, playground and 100 “I love you daddy.” Moral of the story, SOMEONE just wants YOU and that SOMEONE doesn’t care about your record.

I’ve been telling linebackers since the early 2010’s to STOP RUNNING INTO OFFENSIVE LINEMEN. Thats what they want, don’t do their job for them. Run past them, you’re more athletic, that’s why you play linebacker!
Jon Svec@JonSvecX

Linebackers: You don’t need to take on every block. Sometimes you can win with SPEED. Dip and “Lose the Shoulder”. Don’t give the blocker anything to work with.

@newdbcoach I don’t overemphasize it. Once a gap opens, don’t blindly fill it. Match the back path. Don’t commit to a gap if the back if the back isn’t committing. Spill overlap path, shuffle and don’t overrun the carrier.

Do any of you guys play multiple fronts w/ the same personnel? We base from a 4-3 over. Looking for ways to get into odd. Would also like to know your WHY behind it! What looks from the O makes you line up in those fronts?

@newdbcoach Edds are what we need to get better at. Good defenses are good at reads, block destruction and tackling so that’s our edds. We will weave game plan into our reads. We also have a Pod session to work scheme stuff we need to improve on.

Coaches, let’s start out the day with a question about drills. Do you have a set of EDD’s or do you drill what needs to be improved?

@CoachTatum90 5-2. Shade to the TE/H. Roll a safety down to the H. We give up an immediate flat route to the H but the DE in the face of the Q should help.

@_CoachBarfield A couple of things to look for. A lot of teams will run that slant/glance route from stacked 3. So I’ll tell that OLB to hang a bit. If they like to crack with the Y I’ll bump the OLB outside leverage of the Y.

@OneBackOff @MyCoachingTree @TullyTracking 4. Trips FIB. #3 screen to the boundary. GT counter to the field. If the nickel travels to boundary, run GT. 5. Empty. Read how they are going to handle #2 away from trips. Slant bubble on the outside. Q G wrap scheme inside.

Situation #3 presented by @MyCoachingTree & @TullyTracking: District/Conference championship game on the line here. 4-2-5 defense, big blitz team with cover 2 behind it. Secondary is stout, DL is undersized but quick. What're your first 5 openers? #WWYDWed

@OneBackOff @MyCoachingTree @TullyTracking Easiest thing to do against undersized DL and blitzing LBs wash em down. 1. 2x2 tight stacks pistol, Truck toss. Attack the corner with a tackle. 2. 2x2. Back in the boundary. Run stick concept with the back and boundary #2 picking on ILB. 3. 3x1. Double slant, back Swing

@OneBackOff @TullyTracking Gotta make a statement. Going to do things to get them out of the 4-3 box or 1/4 look. 1. TE Trips Back Weak. Running buck sweep to the TE. 2. TE Trips. Q G wrap to the weak side open B gap. Back runs smash concept. Q reads that LB. 3. Double tight, slots. Jet power read

Situation #2 presented by @TullyTracking: First game of the season and you have the defending state/national champs at home. 4-3 defense, heavy stunts and cover 4 behind it. They returned the opening kick for a TD, 7-0 in the first. Walk us through the opening script! #WWYDWed

@OneBackOff @MyCoachingTree Play 3. 2x2. Power read. attack stack lb. Play 4. Trips stick concept with Fk inside zone. The OLB will be late or the corner won’t jump the out. Play 5. My favorite. Split back with an H. Power to the H. Speed option to the backside. Make them play all 3 phases. Read BS LB

@OneBackOff @MyCoachingTree DC here. Don’t have film. Play 1. Trips strong. Running GT counter with the back to the solo side. Gonna see if the corner is about it. Play 2. Trips strong flood. how they are handling the 2 and 3 to the flat with a rollout. Who’s takes the Q on roll. Is corner disciplined.

Situation #1 presented by @MyCoachingTree: It's the last game of the season; win and you're in the playoffs, lose and your season is over. Your opponent is a 3-3-5 team that is heavy double cloud, light blitz. Take us through your opening script. Bonus if you have film. #WWYDWed
