@JaredCBurt Why did you leave out the last and most important sentence?

@griffingulledge I hear you. I don’t have enough characters to include everything he said, so I made sure the video covered it for full transparency. What’s the goal of saying “there is no danger of that position not being represented here”? Whatever his intent, I think it gives false assurance.

@JaredCBurt I think by not including the end of his quote that you’re missing his point. He was saying that he wasn’t going to fire current faculty over that issue, but that he would not tolerate that position in future hiring decisions.

@JaredCBurt @SBCvoices Sure, it's possible that he flipped his view. (Obviously wouldn't be the first time.) But IMO this kind of dunking on someone calls for more than a decades-old indirect quote from a source that many would say had an agenda.

@ben_wright_ @SBCvoices Of course, that’s always possible. They quoted him as saying “the preaching office.” I’m unaware of any statements made at the time, by Dr. Mohler or anyone else, to correct the article. However, others expressed similar views.

The logical force of Adrian Rogers’ argument seems to depend on a “senior pastor” understanding. Rogers claimed the revision would affect 50-70 churches, "less than 1/10 of 1 percent" of SBC churches baptistpress.com/resource-libra…

@JaredCBurt @SBCvoices A quote from the Louisville Courier Journal, as I recall. Correct? Wait. Actually not a quote. Just the next sentence is a quote. 🤔 Any chance the secular paper (in a town with deeply-entrenched hostility) misconstrued what he said?

@JaredCBurt I would not believe it unless I heard him say it from his mouth—not a paraphrase in a paper. If you go back to Mohler’s earliest days as president of SBTS, it’s very clear he opposed the ordination of women “pastors” of any kind. This was especially clear to his critics.

@drantbradley Also… Your counsel to rough house and wrestle with your boys was very helpful. One of my sons got into athletic wrestling. Because of you I immediately saw that as a good thing even though I didn’t know anything about competitive wrestling. So I want to thank you for that.

@drantbradley I read “The Boy Crisis” at your recommendation, because I love most of what you post (so don’t block me. I come in peace😂). All four of my kids are in Christian schools and thriving (2 boys, 2 girls). I guess I know “all boy schools” aren’t necessary for healthy maturation.

“You have paid male leaders w/formal titles & unpaid/unofficial female leaders.” 🔥 Women can *oversee* pastoral staff on Personnel Com, finances on Finance Com, legal and physical assets as trustees, appoint leaders from Nominating, etc… but not be a “Kid’s Pastor?” Nonsense.
Marissa Franks Burt@MBurtwrites

I hear from so many women who have similar stories. Ppart of why these days I have zero interest in arguments re: male-only leadership. Guys, you don't have male-only leadership. You have paid male leaders w/formal titles & unpaid/unofficial female leaders. 1/3
