Yes, proof is required. But if there ever WAS proof, I think you'd ignore it because then you'd have to question your own core belief system. It says nothing about you, but human nature. Most of us can't question that. As far as proof, I'm not saying it is, but as far as Evolution is concerned, I believe in it, I just don't believe in Darwin's explanation for it - that it all came about randomly. There are some aspects of evolutionary history that require quite a leap of faith to believe it came about randomly. but I bet you aren't ready for THAT conversation.

I used to consider myself atheist and I totally agree. They claim to be science based, but if any science suggests they are wrong about something, they will ignore the science. Their beliefs are "religious"' I now consider myself agnostic, though I'm also a hard core materialist.

@DivinelyDesined Your God inference has no mechanism, no testability, no predictive power, just “I think it explains things.” That’s not the same category. If you want it treated like science, support it like science. Otherwise, it’s just a belief supported by feelings and vibes.

Atheists seem to be fine making inferences of unobserved events when it comes to evolution. But for some reason we're not allowed to make inferences when it comes to God.

Not convinced. Your conviction comes from the absence of logic and critical thinking in theism. It’s not that you were convinced to be atheist. You just weren’t convinced by theists that gods and deities actually exist. The default is atheism. Withholding belief for lack of evidence.
