The Big 12’s court action left no choice. Even if this may be the cleanest end to the situation, you can bet Tech is already talking exit strategy from the Big 12. Ending the tortilla tradition and now this, they don’t have Tech’s back and they shouldn’t benefit from having us.

Texas AG office made clear that federal court would be involved in its letter indicating federal antitrust violations. The conference is essentially asking the federal district court to give it an antitrust exemption in order to allow it to punish Texas Tech. Kessler also pointed out antitrust matters among other legal issues in his letter. I would not expect this to be over anytime soon and would expect an appeal from the loser regardless the outcome. The problem for the conference is that by filing in federal court and naming Texas Tech administrators individually they have made this a much lengthier and more complicated process than it was a week ago. This is one of those issues that could easily go the distance.
