A prominent Kannada journalist has torn into the government's move to ban Hindi, and raises some straightforward, hard hitting questions: 1) Do all those who are opposing Hindi actually have their own children studying in the state syllabus, so that this policy would apply to their kids? 2) By what right do you get to dictate what our kids should learn? Now, please allow me to add a few questions of my own. 1) Why isn’t the government banning Urdu schools and Madrasas funded by Kannadiga taxpayers? Aren’t Muslims Kannadigas too? If not, why are they living off our taxes? If yes, why aren’t they required to learn to read and write Kannada? 2) If this is about minority rights to preserve their language, why aren’t there as many Tulu or Kodava schools as there are Urdu schools? 3) Even by the definition of a minority, aren’t Hindi speaking people in Karnataka also a linguistic minority? This is exactly why subjects like Education, Agriculture, and Health should be moved to the Central List. Let the state cabinets enjoy watching IPL matches from the VIP lounge instead of meddling in critical sectors.

My mama is at a very senior position at Oracle, Bengaluru, and what he told me today honestly broke my heart, he said the situation is really bad, people he personally knows, hardworking, talented, 15+ years in the company, just terminated like that, and it’s not stopping, today it’s Oracle, tomorrow it’ll be some other company (he even named a few), all this because of increasing AI takeover, and the worst part is they can’t even do anything about it, his WhatsApp and mail are now filled with job requests, people asking for help, referrals, anything… share price is up, sure, but at what cost ? Gave their life to one company, replaced in weeks.

@KiranAradhyaadv We dont need Hindi because hindi is uselsss language. We dont need Hindi because at some point in life we might travel north as tourist. Nobody force children to learn foreign language for this purpose. North isnt generating quality jobs so migration from here to there is low

Lashkar-e-Olata's are upset because I called her “prominent.” But not one of them has had the courage to answer these questions. Instead, they’ve shifted the goalpost. The new argument is: “If North Indian schools doesn’t teach Kannada, why should Karnataka teach Hindi?” Fair question. But the logical solution isn’t to stop our kids from learning Hindi, it is to push for Kannada to be taught in northern states as well. So how do we make that happen? Just like Hindi became a common linking language across much of the North, we can position Kannada as a linking language in the South. Even strong Tamil language advocates should not object, because Kannada is part of the broader "Dravida family", right?. Over time, gradually, eventually, and strategically, Kannada can expand its presence across southern states. Imagine a long term vision, say 10 years from now: In Tamil Nadu 1st language: Mother tongue (Tamil) 2nd language: Kannada 3rd language: Hindi In Karnataka 1st language: Mother tongue (Kannada/Tulu/Kodava) 2nd language: Sanskrit (Kannada, incase Tulu/kodava being first language) 3rd language: Hindi In UP 1st language: Mother tongue (Hindi) 2nd language: Kannada 3rd language: Sanskrit In Maharastra 1st language: Mother tongue (Marati) 2nd language: Kannada 3rd language: Hindi This way, Indians can travel and communicate across the country without language barriers, a step toward decolonisation by reducing dependence on English. As for funding such reforms, resources can be reallocated by shutting down government funded madrasa and Urdu medium schools, and instead prioritise the promotion of Mool nivasi Indian languages. Fair enough? Look, long story short 👇 “North isn’t doing it, so we shouldn’t either.” isn’t logical. Instead of lifting standards, you want to drag everything down. It’s like saying, “One tyre is punctured, so I’ll puncture the other three.” Any person with basic sense would fix the puncture and move on. No? Now don’t shift the goalpost again, It’s already done enough cardio or is that the only strategy left?😂😂
