What’s funny is that objectively coming into the series, the Knicks had plenty of ways to attack this matchup. Basketball-wise, picking the Knicks was always a RATIONAL take. Picking against them off of random vibes was actually the irrational take.

The trade was a win for Brooklyn the day it happened. Mikal was a good player, but the Nets weren’t winning with him as their #1 option. Turning a non-All-Star into 5 firsts and a swap was exactly what a rebuilding team should do. The Knicks succeeding doesn’t change that the Nets got maximum value for an asset that wasn’t taking them anywher
