Better late than ever, my 60 books of 2025 📚 2026’s target? 52 books with more edu + geog than last year! I used to get so much inspiration from people’s book threads on here. Anyone still doing one for 2026? 👀📖

I’ve joined this for the last few years and it is some of the best CPD I’m lucky enough to attend! ⭐️ I’d encourage all who mentor, coach, work with geography teachers to attend- happy to answer any questions about attending.

@MMinton10 @kate_stockings @fiona_616 @lcgeography I developed a number of resources due to Covid so students still had some fieldwork exposure- which are now embedded as more data collection and or data analysis tasks to answer enquiry questions. I have also filmed myself collection data on pebble size for class use

Lots of podcasts (unsurprisingly) discussing COP30 but this is the best I’ve listened to in the last few days because it has a healthy dose of ‘hopeful geography’ within! Recommended subject knowledge update for all geographers 🌎 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3…

ESRI UK Teach with GIS - some lovely coastal fieldwork cross sections, impact of urban shade/climate change; love a bit of google street view (esp change over time - see teachmeet @ the GA conference last year), CCTV and traffic and wave cams are good, as well as a bit of drone footage over areas. Even if for revisit/comparisons.

@MMinton10 @kate_stockings @fiona_616 @lcgeography In the past I’ve done River Tees, Dorset coastline (not actual fieldwork but more digital learning exercise) Stratford for urban change/ changing places, Local changing place case study, and Antarctica for Y7

@MMinton10 @fiona_616 @lcgeography Then none for us! Haven’t seen an example of it before where the body of fieldwork knowledge is actually taught through it. From what I’ve seen it tends to be more about bringing the world to life- which I think we can do in other ways (& more powerfully)

@kate_stockings @fiona_616 @lcgeography Yes, fully virtual if you're unable to visit a location. Definitely pros/cons to it (and not a substitute for the real thing) but interested to hear how others approach it 😊

@MMinton10 @fiona_616 @lcgeography When you say virtual, do you mean fully virtual? In which case, none as I’m not convinced by it at all. We do onsite fieldwork in Y7-9 however ☺️

Delighted to have written an article for WideWorld on flooding around Gatwick — published in the very same week the second runway was approved. A timely GCSE Geography case study highlighting how physical processes and human decisions intersect. #Hodder #WideWorld
