Sarah, it’s Barry here. Since you have now chosen to publicly puncture the carefully manufactured myth that the now disbanded “Obidient Movement” was some pristine, spontaneous uprising untouched by money or coordination, perhaps it is only fair that Nigerians hear the full story

@DrBarryAvotu1st Now that you claim the movement, what are you going to do? Hold me to vote Tinubu? You actually lack sense. After reading the way you think, it's obvious you wanted some pie. So people were given money to vote for Obi? Or does Sarah look like who can't give you 100k for court?

Alleged ₦110.4bn Kogi Fraud: Witness Narrates How N950 Million Property Was Bought in Maitama A prosecution witness, PW15, Ramalan Abdullahi, on Friday, May 8, 2026, narrated before the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja, how a property located at No. 35 Danube Street, Maitama, Abuja, was allegedly purchased for the naira equivalent of N950 million paid in United States dollars. Abdullahi, a legal practitioner with the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, testified before Justice Maryanne Anineh in the ongoing trial of the former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is prosecuting Bello alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on a 16-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and money laundering to the tune of N110.4 billion. Led in evidence by prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, the witness told the court that sometime in January 2022, a friend informed him about the property and requested that he conduct due diligence on it. “I picked a call from my friend who informed me that some agents introduced him to this property to sell and that I can conduct due diligence on it”, he said. When asked whom he interfaced with as the buyer of the property, the witness said: “Ali Bello through Shehu Bello. The payment of the property was in Naira. Paid in dollars equivalent to 950 million naira.” Abdullahi further told the court that he prepared and handed over the necessary title documents to Ali Bello. “I was given a name White Tree Nigerian Limited as the assignee. I prepared the deed of assignment between Palchi Ventures Nigeria Plc and White Tree Nigeria Limited as the assignee for the deed of assignment. And the power of attorney was given to the same party,” he said. According to him, the instruction to use White Tree Nigeria Limited came from Ali Bello. “The person that gave me the name of White Tree Limited was Ali Bello,” he said. Speaking further on the mode of payment for the property, the witness said the entire sum was paid in dollars. During cross-examination by counsel to the first and second defendants, Abdullahi Yahaya, SAN, the witness confirmed that he had previously testified before the Federal High Court. Asked whether he received instructions to work for a particular person, he replied: “Yes. I received the instruction from Shehu Bello.” Under cross-examination by counsel to the third defendant, Z. E. Abbas, the witness stated that he never met Abdulsalami Hudu. Earlier in the proceedings, Pinheiro informed the court that the matter had previously been adjourned for ruling on pending applications and, if time permitted, continuation of trial. He further disclosed that the prosecution had served the third defendant’s counsel with an application seeking suspension and stay of proceedings. Responding, Abbas told the court that the application was not ripe for hearing, noting that it was served on him around 4pm on Thursday, and requested an adjournment till Tuesday. Pinheiro, however, opposed the request, arguing that the application by the third defendant was similar to that earlier filed by the first and second defendants. “The third defendant is arguing the same thing. Same prayers. If my application is granted, it will affect their application too because it's the same prayers. It will save time,” he said. Abbas disagreed, insisting that their applications were different. Justice Anineh subsequently ruled that the third defendant could move his application at the next adjourned date. Thereafter, Pinheiro informed the court that the prosecution wished to withdraw an application dated May 6, 2026. “My lord, the application I wish to withdraw is dated 6th of May, 2026. We have already argued it,” he said. With no objection from defence counsel, Justice Anineh granted the application for withdrawal.

A few evenings ago, I went to the beach to sit. While I was there, I gave a guy 1,000 Naira to buy water for me. When he returned, he gave me the water and 700 Naira change. I was so moved by how appreciative he was when I gave the 700 back to him. Because of that gratitude, I later sent him 20,000 Naira and he was almost in tears. Not long after, my phone went off and he suggested he would look for a power bank for me. He ran around, found one, came back, and I gifted him another 50k because of how appreciative he was.

The African Democratic Congress would like to reiterate our fears that some agents of the Federal Government are making frantic efforts to manipulate the judiciary by switching the judge in the leadership matter involving Nafiu Bala. Having received the letter written by Bala requesting the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to reassign the case to another judge, it has now been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the sinister plot allegedly led by a notorious federal minister is indeed afoot. This is no longer about justice or the merit of the case, but about the desperation of political operatives confronted by the utter frivolity of their case. With this development, it is now obvious that Nafiu Bala Gombe and his handlers are trying to turn the judiciary into a shopping mall where you pick and choose judges suitable for your political schemes. You cannot file a case and then begin to dictate which judge should hear it simply because proceedings are not going your way. No litigant has the right to choose a judge in his own matter. The attempt to seek an indefinite adjournment after the clear direction of the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court for a speedy trial, in fact, raises serious questions about the willingness of the lower courts to obey express orders from superior courts. Instead of allowing the matter to proceed expeditiously, as any aggrieved plaintiff genuinely seeking justice would, Bala and his handlers are looking for ways to stall the case until they are able to find a judge willing to do their bidding and pervert the course of justice. We regret to say that this is exactly the kind of political interference and behind-the-scenes manipulation that has brought the judiciary into disrepute. We want to state clearly that the ADC will continue to stand by the rule of law. But the rule of law must not be replaced with judicial intimidation or forum shopping. The courts must remain independent, and judicial officers must be allowed to do their work without political interference or orchestrated campaigns designed to influence proceedings.

The endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR by the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) for a second term in office as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was born out of the impactful economic reforms of his #RenewedHope administration, which have continued to reposition our nation for sustainable growth and national development. As we joined him at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center (BATICC), ably represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, for the submission of the nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 Presidential Election, it was evident that the administration’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria remains steadfast and widely embraced. Mr. President has delivered greatly in the transformation of our dear nation across critical sectors, including infrastructure, economic revitalization, security, and human capital development. It is, therefore, imperative that we continue to support him in advancing the progressive ideals of the #RenewedHope agenda for the benefit of all Nigerians. - Hope Uzodimma

An OPEN LETTER to GRV, Abdul-Azeez Olajide, popularly called “Jandor” rode with Atiku & the PDP. We all know how that played out. Jandor is still struggling today. He could end up as the Jimi Agbaje of Lagos. That said, I expected a more savvy political move from you. You aren’t a rookie politician anymore. While you dilly-dally, others take vantage positions. A New Wave is on the rise. You of all people should know that Nigeria is not an ideal place. That place is not politically mature for that kind of “honorable” chess move you just played; at least not yet! There is a thin line between idealism & realism, & it’s a delicate balance. You run the risk of misinterpretation. Interpretation gets lost when one becomes too idealistic. It’s like walking on eggshells; one must tread carefully. So I hope you aren’t misreading the situation? If Peter Obi could change parties as Bola Tinubu did, your case shouldn’t be different. You should be the one lapping up Obi, he alone can give wind to your sails. Being a politician is knowing when to stay & when to jump ship. The ADC has no capacity to engineer any type of massive tectonic shift that could dislodge the deeply entrenched GAC in Lagos state. GRV, you are not just anybody. You are one of us. So I expected Funso Doherty’s move from you, WE ALL DID! My reason is simple. Your campaign was a gastric extravaganza, & I was deeply attached. It was something quite unexpected, something fresh. It was “New Feeling,” it filtered in & reinvigorated our hopes. I won’t forget “Eko e dide” & “Omo Eko Pataki” in a hurry. Those were slogans that heralded your homecoming debut. We were debutantes, 2023 was when Nigerians witnessed our first dance. I’m so emotional right now! My tears are running wild. “GRV, O GRV!” Yours was a campaign so close to all our hearts. You aren’t just a candidate; you’re our brother. You & Obidients are family, & everyone knows that family is a touchy issue. So I hope it’s not too late for you to come home & ride the tide. By me penning this letter, it means that you are one of us. As far as Nigeria goes, there is no room for political correctness. That place is not at UK/US/CA/AU level yet. Nigeria is still in its Prehistoric Age. You are yet to greet the Age of Civilization. Your own Industrial Revolution is still years away. Therefore, we should learn. This is not me preaching any kind of “conformity,” HELL NO! As disruptors & changemakers, the Obidients are against that! Our ethos are strength & honor. But the present situation is peculiar, & one must think out of the box. Time is of the essence, the clock is ticking. “Life is in constant flux; accepting this leads to peace. You cannot control external events, only your reaction to them.” Marcus Aurelius told me these. Nigeria is so unforgiving right now. Only the strong & the savvy survive. Present-day Nigeria is Carthage, a Gladiator’s Arena. You have to be born mad to survive it. There is no room for political correctness in such a brutal climate. Should Doherty get the NDC’s gubernatorial ticket for Lagos State, Obidients will vote for him. That’s the much I know!
