@1goodtern Covid's plenty dangerous, still just b/c we weren't aware of problems, health issues or behavioral trends before Covid, doesn't mean they didn't already exist. Doesn't mean that Covid can't make certain things worse either; it just means that it's not the be all and end all.

@1goodtern likely a contributing factor to MS. I think it's also important that if someone dies from a heart attack, stroke etc that they get after Covid, we recognize that Covid contributed to that death & the death would possibly not have occurred without Covid.

@1goodtern it's good that we differentiate between ongoing symptoms and other illnesses/health issues that are brought on by a previous illness. I believe what we need to do, though, is recognize Covid as a contributing factor/or the contributing factor, like it's now recognized that EBV is

One of the subtle but serious problems in science and health communication at the moment is that people are treating Long Covid like a yes/no thing. Do you have Long Covid? Yes Do you have Long Covid? No

@CuriousDaily_ @petemuntean Why not? The plane already crashed, this was one investigator and I'm sure others in line are there on business, too. What makes the NTSB more special than everyone else? My question is, why didn't she take the train knowing wait times were long?

@petemuntean How is an aviation safety investigator stuck in a 3-hour TSA line during an active response? This system is broken.

Wow. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy says the agency had to "beg" to get a key LaGuardia crash investigator (a specialist on air traffic control) through TSA in Houston after she had been waiting in line for THREE HOURS.

@RWittenbrink @brownecfm Absolutely possible. But did you know that spending a long time in space (half a year and more) also alters gray matter and compresses the brain (which, apparently, slows thinking but doesn't affect intelligence) and affects the body in other ways? @1goodtern What is the neuropsychiatrist's preschool/kindergarten experience? What does the neuropsychiatrist know about trends observed by teachers before Covid? What do they know about how these trends changed from before Covid to after? What do you know about it?

@emmma_camp_ Oh yes. Covid infections in the womb and over and over again since birth damage development and cognition and increase vulnerability to other infections. It’s not that hard but people try to ignore it as inconvenient.

@MarioNawfal SUI's never been truly neutral if you ask me. Staying "neutral" when faced with s.o. like Hitler isn't neutrality. It's enabling. Considering those who stole from Jews & stashed the art work in their banks the owner of the art work isn't neutrality imo. Just a couple of reasons.

🚨🇨🇭🇺🇸🇮🇷 SWITZERLAND JUST BROKE NEUTRALITY TO SAY THE WAR VIOLATES INTERNATIONAL LAW Switzerland. The country that stayed neutral through both World Wars. Just said the U.S., Israel, AND Iran all broke international law. Swiss Defense Minister: "The attack on Iran constitutes a violation of international law. The U.S. and Israel (as well as Iran for its counterattacks) broke international law's prohibition on the use of force." Switzerland doesn't do this. They're famously, historically, institutionally neutral. They don't pick sides. For them to publicly state all parties violated international law means the situation's so severe that staying silent became untenable. This isn't just symbolic. Switzerland often represents U.S. interests in countries where the U.S. doesn't have diplomatic relations. If they're saying U.S. actions are illegal, that's a fracture in Western consensus. When the neutral referee says everyone's cheating, the game's broken. Swiss Info, FDFA

A large study of over 40,000 people found that COVID-19 infection can cause long-lasting changes in immune cells, particularly lymphocytes. ➡️ Some immune cell levels remained below normal even 20 months after infection. ➡️ Researchers observed significant drops in T cells, CD4⁺ T cells, CD8⁺ T cells, NK cells, and B cells during infection, with incomplete recovery long after. ➡️ These immune changes may contribute to persistent symptoms seen in #LongCOVID. 1/

@RWittenbrink @JamesThrot Agreed. Still, we can't ignore the role the internet & social media play. Everything that we're observing now in society & politics was already going on before Covid. I think blaming everything exclusively on Covid is as dangerous as ignoring the (potential) effects of Covid.

We are being gaslit into believing that the impulsivity, cruelty & polarisation we are seeing is purely cultural & political. That explanation is psychologically comforting, but inaccurate. It means we don't have to examine biology. But we must. COVID has entered the chat 🧵

@EricMGarcia Spanberger had a wider winning margin than Shapiro has in this poll - in an off-year election! I have a feeling that you don't consider her a frontrunner, though, so, I think this is about a white male governor you like more than it is about swing state governors.

@GrayD001 @1goodtern not something I want - it's not helpful to ignore that this right-wing populism has been on the rise since before Covid either. I even think it's dangerous to blame it all on Covid because if we do that, we're essentially saying it's all out of our control and we resign ourselves
