When I worked for Barb (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board) - who collect tv ratings for different channels/companies. Whenever #NUFC played, there was a surge in ratings in the Newcastle area, but not much extra in Sunderland. Whenever #SAFC played, there was a surge in Sunderland and Newcastle - that’s because Newcastle fans ALWAYS watch Sunderland. Doesn’t really happen the other way round though - I suppose it answers who’s the more obsessed question 🤷
