I have truly enjoyed my time on Twitter. While I haven't posted much in the last few years Twitter was a game changer for me in education. Given the direction of this platform however, I can't stay. Thank you all for giving so much to me. Forever grateful 🙏

I’m starting a cycle of inquiry into how to support my students in becoming listeners in class discussions. What have you found has helped your students become better listeners to both their classmates and their teacher?

@flyingmonkey13 YES!!! So so damaging. Just as bad as the "do it for the kids" narrative.

I never really thought about how damaging the teachers are superheroes narrative can be. Teachers are AMAZING. But they are humans who need to be encouraged in words and actions to take care of their personal well-being and set boundaries.

@offgridteacher @SharonCarter63 How does your school not have a library? Did it used to and then it was taken away for classroom space? I'm so confused. I didn't know that was a thing. But to answer your question, coding, STEM kits, reading or writing a story.

@SharonCarter63 We don’t have a school library. My students ARE lucky in that I have an extensive personal classroom library, funded by myself, and through many Scholastic book orders and Donors Choose and Amazon wishlist appeals over the years.

Teachers: What do you do for early finishers? I’d like to create alternatives to besides worksheets and more time on the tech programs I’m already using (Zearn, Epic, Raz Kids, Lalilo, and Freckle).

@citizenstewart I'm not sure. I have a feeling the program in its entirety is probably different than what is happening. But a reward store for kids who are already doing the right thing and have teachers who LOVE tickets does nothing to change behavior. It's straight up bribery most of the time

Educators, for years I supported PBIS as an evidendence-based building-wide approach to managing student behavior. Was I wrong?

We had the chance to rethink schooling. We had the chance to make systemic changes. We had the chance to really be about the equity we try to preach. It's up to teachers and individual admin, yet again.
