Christians have not recently been adept political thinkers. So, 2 things on this… 1) We should respect Mormons enough to be honest with them that, by their own self-identification, they are “not creedal Christians” (what Mormons THEMSELVES will say, bc they understand they disagree with many/most of the core doctrines of Christianity that are expressed in the earliest creeds) 2) Christians need to develop the ability to understand there are two overlapping but distinct realms: the church and the state (Jesus, 1 Peter, Augustine) Therefore, there will be some people that are on a DIFFERENT TEAM spiritually (not Christians), but on the SAME TEAM culturally (aligned in almost all political / cultural goals). If you don’t understand this, you will oppose people you should befriend in the political/cultural realm, and you will befriend people you should differentiate from in the church/spiritual realm.

Mormons are some of the most disingenuous apologists for their religion in the public square. Instead of clearly defining and defending their beliefs as distinct from historic Christianity, Mormon apologetics seem to center on blurring lines as much as possible with historic Christianity, essentially preying on the ignorant. Jesus said to his disciples, “What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.” Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.” But we rarely hear Mormons openly proclaiming their distinctives, such as their rejection of the Trinity, their belief in preexistent spirits, their view of Jesus and Lucifer as brothers, their claim that man can become as God, and their many other doctrines ranging from laughable absurdity to damnable blasphemy. Christians meanwhile do not need to rely on obfuscation to advance our faith. The word of the gospel is the power of God for salvation, which is why we can speak truth plainly and trust God to work, even when those truths are unpopular in our culture. But false religions and cults such as Mormonism lack this power, forcing them to rely on deceptive, obfuscatory, and underhanded tactics instead of the rigor of their own claims.

BREAKING: SSPX announces the 4 priests to be consecrated bishops on July 1 Fr Pascal Schreiber, of Swiss nationality, Fr Michael Goldade, of American nationality, Fr Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, of French nationality, Fr Marc Hanappier, of French nationality. SSPX writes that “dossiers of these priests were presented to the Holy Father, together with certain explanations necessary for a proper understanding of this step, within the very particular and exceptional context of these episcopal consecrations.” “In no way do the [consecrations] constitute a denial of, refusal of, or challenge to the supreme, full, and immediate power of jurisdiction of the Vicar of Christ over the universal Church.”

If only we, as Latter-day Saints, belonged to a church that had “Jesus Christ” in its name and His image in its logo … Oh wait

@mugjudge I haven't seen a single saint who was a universalist.

I have noticed something with the Trinity. It’s all just word games designed to hide rather than clarify. The Trinity is incoherent the moment you actually clearly define things like person, being, God etc
