Nothing Trent Alexander-Arnold has done this season warrants a call-up. Not one thing.
England have proper full-backs who've been far better than him this campaign. Livramento and Djed Spence have both been outstanding. Livramento at Newcastle, Spence at Spurs.
The key difference is that both are more reliable in and out of possession & have got strong mentality.
Trent's game has always been situational. In possession, with the right profiles ahead of him, he can be elite but out of possession, he's a genuine liability. You have to build the team around covering his defensive duties, which compromises structure and unbalances the system.
So no, leaving him out isn't harsh. It's logical.
