(Now with working alt text) Of the paths local to me, about a three quarters *would* be accessibly to my chair but most of these otherwise accessible paths are deliberately blocked.

@TadhgHickey Wow. It just “landed” near me purely by chance. Not a targeted attack that nearly killed me. I mean this is shite even by BBC standards.

@ObserverLizard2 @estherzelda0514 It's amusing reading this from a country where spanking usually refers to the between consenting adults activity rather than the chastisement of children.

@rsdworker Level access is the long term goal. All long term work on platforms, rolling stock, etc should work towards that goal, but in the meantime having a guard to deploy the ramp meant these stations were much more accessible than far busier stations with driver-only operation.

Last year I repeatedly travelled to some of the remotest stations in England (inc. Dent, pictured below) and back without any pre-booking. That was possible as Northern keep a ramp on the train and have the guard deploy it. Driver only operation = inaccessibility.

DOO has caused so many issues with assistance for disabled passengers. It needs to be halted and we need to have staff back on either every train or every platform from first to last train. TUAG is an explicit right & that can only work where there are HUMANS to deploy ramps.

So it turns out managing my stress about my father's surgery by throwing myself into my maniacal engineering project has wrecked my physical health. You *can* push through pain, but it's generally a bad idea. And I ran into a setback that means my stress levels haven't decreased

@DolphinMossad He needs to take a strong stand against the Local Government Act of 1974. That Yorkshire territory was handed over to other counties is indefensible. Worse still, some of that land was handed to the Lancastrian Entity and remains under occupation to this day.

Bum rushing all Mamdani pressers to demand his position on progressively more obscure border disputes. It is time to end City Hall’s shameful silence on West Papua, the Schleswig-Holstein question, self-determination for Åland, and the legality of the annexation of Vermont.

If you are not following the Guardian’s facilitation of outright antisemitism on its opinion pages, you should. Now it’s trying to wriggle out by claiming the article was misunderstood. And I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I would happily sell to the #guardian
Josh Howie@joshxhowie

Nah. You know exactly what you did. After years of minimising the violence directed at Jews. And now you think you can weasel out of it. We see you @guardian. And you’ll see us tomorrow.

I’m never voting for anyone over 70. If you gonna be dead in a year or two you gotta go. After Hospice Joe it’s like people didn’t learn. Yes Trump is also old and dementia but he beat a woman who was scared of male podcasters because of her Kara swisher haircut land acknowledgment staffers

"Don't judge me by who I was 14 years ago" *6 years ago on the internet calling people f*gs* "No, not that. Judge me by who I am TODAY" *Today has a literal Nazi tattoo* "Uhhh I had no idea what that meant. I am really stupid. Just a big dummy. Elect me to be your senator!"
David Weigel@daveweigel

Platner up w a response ad to Mills attack in #MESen. “Maine, I’m asking you not to judge me for the worst thing I said on the internet on my worst day 14 years.” He’s putting more points on air this week; Mills buy is $87k in Portland market, Pratner at $350k in Portland.

@TimStevensParis @deborahlipstadt Yes, dear, of course it was just a protest against Israel's actions. Anything can be written off as just a protest against Israel's actions if you simply refuse to accept any other possibility. Fun fact - reflexively excusing bigotry against a group is a sign of said bigotry.

@OrMakeOne @deborahlipstadt Yes, I get that. But that smashing of windows, which we should all condemn, was no doubt a protest triggered by Israel’s actions, not by antisemitism. Little, if any, of this would be happening if, after responding militarily, Israel was now seeking a political solution.

@TimStevensParis @deborahlipstadt There's nothing inherently antisemitic about criticising the Israeli government. But the article wasn't about that - it framed a Jewish founded business opening a shop as "heavy handed aggression" while downplaying pro-Pals smashing its windows as "small acts of petty symbolism"

@deborahlipstadt Oh, give us a break. There is not a trace of antisemitism in the Guardian. It is not antisemitic to criticise the Israeli government, just as it is not islamophobic to abhor Hamas or the Iranian regime. The only path to security for Israel, which we all want, is peace. Grow up.

@Brazil201 @Wilson__Valdez You've got a choice between a woman who's old but has a solid track record and dude who got a nazi tattoo and looks like he chose to keep it over re-enlisting in the marines + blamed victims for rape, while coming from more privileged background But on the plus side he's scruffy

@d_h_sanders Just because something takes courage doesn't mean it's laudable. Someone with sufficient courage could deliberately contrive an interaction between the most intimate parts of their own anatomy and a running blender, but they still shouldn't.

The director with the courage to make a Fellowship of the Ring adaptation with the first half mostly about Tom Bombadil and cutting out Weathertop has not been born.
Everything Price Sufferer (but especially eggs)@agraybee

Tom Bombadil also is weirdly powerful (he can see people who put on the Ring and gives it up freely) and a movie audience is going to ask what's up with that. And they're not going to get a good answer, because Tolkien scholars barely know.

@flowergirl_lon Yeah, and aside from the need to deploy the ramp, staff are essential for assisting with a lot of other kinds of disability. There just isn't a way to make an accessible railway without staff.

Talking to the new leader of the train drivers’ union, Aslef: Dave Calfe. He says: "No to driver-only operation – every train should have a 2nd safety-critical person.” "Open-access rail firms [Lumo, Grand Central and Hull Trains] should be nationalised." independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

@flowergirl_lon If it's possible to turn up and go at places like Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Ribblehead and even Dent, then it can be possible anywhere on the network, but it requires proper staffing to be viable.
