8pm EDT 17 June -- We continue to monitor a tropical wave (Invest #92L), several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. This system is beginning to show signs of organization & is likely to become a tropical depression by early to middle next week. 2-day genesis probability: medium (🟠60%). 7-day genesis probability: high (🔴80%). Thu 8am 6/1 Update: Showers & thunderstorms have increased and become better organized with an area of low pressure located over the NE Gulf of Mexico. This system now has a medium chance of formation (🟠50%) over the next day or so. However, by this weekend environmental conditions are forecast to become unfavorable for additional development as the system drifts southward, likely remaining offshore over the Gulf of Mexico.
