Why would a court not be independent? The members are elected. It seems to me that an independent court that can’t be ordered around is a good thing. Does there need to be more scrutiny on who gets nominated and elected? Yes. If the Archbishop feels like it is in the best interest of the Province to have a transcript released, I’m sure he could meet with court members who could then decide to release or not release. I personally think the ADOSC standing committee and Bishop Edgar’s requests were outside of their scope of responsibility and should have been treated as such.

This is interesting for plenty of reasons, for canon watchers! One point of interest is that this interpretation now sits alongside the past year's Title IV reform initiative, which is slated to make changes to court composition & practices through Provincial Council this summer.

An interesting thing from this story: the ACNA's provincial position is that the Court for the Trial of a Bishop is thoroughly independent & its practices can't be directed by the Provincial Council, the church's governing body - so PC can't mandate release of trial transcripts.

Liberal parishes of the ACNA need to go back home to The Episcopal Church and its many errors. If liberalism persists, the ACNA will surely die come the next generation of Anglicans. I am sorry if that is stern and harsh, but it is the reality of things. Young men and women are swimming to Rome and the East. Our reputation as a tradition is severely damaged.

@HispAnglican Thank you. I am acutely aware of what is going on in ACNA. Yes there are big issues, but it isn’t crumbling or imploding. The online SM crowd is a microcosm of the real world. A bunch of squeaky wheels don’t represent the whole or even a large part of the whole.

The ACNA cannot afford to allow people who have deserted their vows and support this sacrilege to continue within our church’s leadership.

CENSORSHIP IN @THE_ACNA: Bp Chip Edgar has issued new social media policies for @anglican_SC. Clergy must not "like content that reflects poorly on…other clergy". Edgar declined to join a presentment against Steve Wood for months, enabling Wood to be invested as archbishop.

There's no such thing as THE church of england. A church is a christian community with christian leadership. The organization in question isn't Christian. England lost its national church between the 1960's and 2000's. The few christians attending their services migrated to ACNA, ACC, and GAFCON

Yes I attend St. Andrews and have since 1980. My comments would be the same if Bishop Edgar was accused and going to trial and Steve Wood and the Standing Committee of the Diocese of the Carolinas sent that letter. If you don’t believe me ask anyone who knows me at St. Andrews including Steve Wood. It was a political. Full Stop. In the end, it failed which is exactly what should have happened.

I don’t think I am. I have been around a long time. Chip Edgar knew this request was going nowhere and why. I don’t know what his political posturing is about. That is only known by Bishop Edgar and God. What I do know is that the letter had no trace of the hand of the Holy Spirit.
