Southern "girl" who loves family, the beach and the North Carolina mountains. Hoping that I can extend the love, grace and forgiveness so freely given to me.

The laity blew it. They had the power to keep voting, and they opted out. Clarke Lowenfield didn’t do this. The laity would rather have gone to lunch than keep persisting. If you want to post any other cartoons, they should be of chickens running to the hen house. I’m thinking the will of God might have been to select better candidates to begin with.

And a judge can decide not to make the transcripts available even in cases when the record isn’t sealed. The Ruch trial is over. You may not like the end decision or have all kinds of opinions about it, but it is over. This case is not going to be retried. It is up to the court as to whether the transcripts are released and they are not releasing them. End of story.

Serious question: why isn’t every bishop in the ACNA saying this right now? What else is there to consider morally and ethically here? Does this pervasive silence inspire confidence?

@PatsyMa43110999 @redeemed_zoomer @angcathalex well for example I'd point out that ACNA/REC churches have a markedly more Protestant vibe compared to the Continuum, even though the buildings are similarly-sized (generally smaller than TEC's). tbh I'm not obsessed over infrastructure. just find the differences interesting.

So is every US citizen entitled to a full trial transcript of every trial in this country because they should know what is going on in the courts of our nation? They are “the whole country” after all and as citizens have a right to know. Should we force cable networks to air 24/7 every trial?? Don’t we have a right to know? Should there be no closed court rooms because after all we deserve to see it all? Transparency is trumpeted loudest by those who have an agenda and in the majority of cases it has nothing to do with a true desire to make ACNA better. It has largely to do with people who want their agenda or idea of “justice” to win and they will use anything and everything to make that happen. The transcripts aren’t going to be released. Period. For the true health of ACNA they shouldn’t be.

@26331to9 Well I certainly don’t mean that. All I mean is that the church is the People of God, not just the bishops or clergy or some select committee. Shouldn’t the layity have the ability to see and know what is going on in their own church? Isn’t that what “the whole church” means?

Lest I remind those who may not know that there were many historic ACNA churches that lost their historic sanctuary when they left TEC and lost everything. Some are in schools. My sister’s church is in a former retail building because that is what they could afford. They have raised money to move to a former Lutheran church that needs renovation. There are some historic ACNA churches that escaped the TEC’s retribution and many ACNA churches are church plants. Mght I also suggest that I am pretty sure God doesn’t give a flying flip about the architecture of where he is worshipped. He sees the hearts of the worshippers. I might also suggest that He loves being worshipped in retail buildings with donated or handmade altar hangings and affordable pottery affordable chalices by people who lost everything to escape the heresy of Presiding Bishops who don’t believe in the diety of Christ or the Trinity, write sacraments to menstruation and have habitual sinning sodomites giving the sacraments to whitewashed tombs.

@redeemed_zoomer @angcathalex Interiors tell the whole story: ACNA/REC: low church, anglican plates, empty crosses, Scripture visible Continuum: small building, usually older, often over-the-top Anglo-C. that looks a bit strange in the smaller building TEC: could be RC church, ranging from Basilica to Chapel

@PlumbLine271 @redeemed_zoomer @AnglicInn Christ Church Mt. Pleasant was built in 1723 but now belongs to TEC- it was lost after they left TEC with the diocese. St. Andrews Mt. Pleasant built it’s historic church in 1857. St. Andrews is ACNA. They did not lose their property when they left TEC.

@redeemed_zoomer @AnglicInn Most of the beautiful historic Congregations in SC are ACNA. St Michael’s built in 1751, St Philips church 1680 (oldest Anglican congregation south of Virginia), and Old Saint Andrew’s parish church 1706 being examples.

If that is true, I am uncertain why you engaged in the post with me in the first place. I have no dog in this fight. I watched the video as an objective person and there was no evidence of clericalism based on the definition I shared. The laity had an equal voice in that election. They voted, with no guns held to their heads by clerics, to send the decision to the CofB. I will not be surprised if either candidate withdraws. How does one Shepard a flock so divided from the outset? The outcome of that election stands squarely on the shoulders of those who voted- laity and clergy alike. They made this bed. The challenge now is how to lie in it.

@PatsyMa43110999 @26331to9 @DOMA_Misconduct @DioceseWGC With all due respect, Ms. Martin, I’m not comfortable engaging with you given your public questioning of my “emotional and mental state” and your pereceived “red flags” about the Lord’s call on my life to plant a church these past 8 years. The Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

I am operating with this definition of clericalism; Institutional clericalism: attitudes within a religion that give excessive authority, privilege, or status to clergy over ordinary members. Favoring progressivism does not equate to clericalism. In the case of the Bishop election, the laity had an equal voice. They could have used their votes to keep everyone there voting and they opted not to do it.

No. The clericalism is evident because the vote shows that the majority of the clergy favor progressivism, whereas the laity vote is more traditional. It exposes that the progressiveness comes from the clergy. I have seen it with my own eyes. And this is what drives ACNA toward heterodoxy. It's clergy. And traditional clergy get marginalized, & will even admit this on X.

Watch the video. The laity had a chance to keep voting, and they chose not to do that. That is not clericalism. It might be lack of courage or apathy from the laity but it was not clericalism. It might have been a stunt to put the CofB in a corner over WO. There is zero evidence this was clericalism. Absolutely zero. The laity are not victims of the clerics. They appear to be their own worse enemy….

@DOMA_Misconduct @DioceseWGC Clericalism. Proof that ACNA is corrupt & clericalism rules. I have seen comparable things at diocesan committee votes. For years ACNA has been packing the house w/ liberal clergy & stealthily marching toward heterodoxy. What was subtle is now blatant. May the Lord open eyes.

There is that “C” word again. “Clericalism.” It’s a problem. As a cleric, I find more and more that a raging disgust of clericalism puts me deeper and deeper into the heart of Christ. To quote Luther, “I am yours. Save me.” #Matthew23

Okay I listened to the video starting at the 4th ballot. It was the Chancellor that stated after the 7th round of votes and there was no one elected that the rules stated at that point there was to be a motion to adjourn. He then stated that then the rules required that a vote as to whether to send to CofB. If the vote was to not send to CoB, then there would be vote to adjourn. If vote to adjourn did not pass, then they would go to 8th ballot. Bishop Lowenfield did ask several times if everyone understood what they were voting for. The vote to go to CofB was by orders and had to have a simple majority in each. So the laity had a chance to NOT pass the vote to go to CofB and then it would have gone to vote for adjournment. They could have NOT passed that vote and kept voting. They did not. There was CLEARLY a decision by laity and clergy to send to CofB. Do I think this was purposely done to force CofB into a corner? Yes. Do I think it was in the best interest of the Diocese to play this game? No. I hope the CofB sends it back and tells them to figure this themselves. Bishop Lowenfield did nothing untoward.

God is sovereign. I have to trust God in all things or my peace is robbed. Many times I can’t see God’s hand in the midst of the journey. It is usually in the rear view mirror that I see it. My prayer in all of this has been that His will be done and that His kingdom would come. I believe that’s what Jesus wants me to pray.

The ACNA Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast episcopal election is deadlocked after 4 ballots. Clergy are for Russell. Laity are for Sharpe. It may have to go the College of Bishops if 3 additional ballots do not decide it.
