Are there any Jehovah's Witnesses on the internet? I honestly can't say I've seen a single comment or post ever from any of them, only a few from the ones who've left

@Piecemaker2121 They are discouraged from using platforms like this, IG, etc. as it will allow apostates to cloud their mind, but they seem to be softening that stance.

Well duh, you're supposed to raise your children to be agnostics and find a baby sitter so you can leave them at home when you go to church on Sundays. Then when they reach the age of 25, you present them with a list of world religions to join and leave the room so they aren't influenced one way or the other. It's called proper parenting. Otherwise, you're indoctrinating your kids into your cult

Celestial Machines - Ezekiel's Wheel of Wonder
My assessment of how people would treat the church is still spot on. But I was wrong about a lot of other things. Apparently the youtuber isn't just juicing up the outrage. The conduct of the owners of the business is reprehensible. They just straight up lied about a lot of stuff and are lashing out everywhere they can instead of what they should have done in the first place: owned up and fixed the problem. Would have saved them a PR nightmare that they got themselves into and are apparently really good at exacerbating it. I expect (and hope) they apologize publically and make things right with the owner of the collection.

Too bad half the points are just blatantly wrong. And I am further vindicated in my initial assessment. Did the BAM do some wrong? Probably? Did the franchise owner do the first initial wrong? Yes. Offering consignment when they don't do consignment was a big mistake. Is a youtuber inserting himself into this to farm outrage? 10000% percent. Did American Fork PD make things worse? Possibly. Its just a giant sh*tshow and everyone wants to blame The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (when it has nothing to do with this).

New rule: Mormons can’t complain about the Trinity until they actually read books on it. Not a YouTube video, some real study. And also, don’t criticize Mormonism if you haven’t bothered to read the best of Mormon scholarship on a given issue. Charity folks.

We reject the interpretations then read into the Biblical text from men who did not hold the authority from God to do so and were Prophets and Apostles themselves. Yes. We don't affirm their interpretations and the Greek metaphysical lens applied to the Godhead, specifically consubstantiality, homoousios, and a various other things they applied. Just because you can argue that most of the Christian world agrees with a wrong teaching about God's nature and then all read that back into the text doesn't mean it's a correct teaching.

Only because it complicates your position and shows you don't have any coherent explanations to answer the problem of evil You just like to engage in polemics and speak in pejoratives about our theology when your theology has much less defensible positions so you just assume everything, like biblical inerrancy

So our choices are: Satan is a disowned, estranged brother because of rebellion, but pre-existed and was uncreated by God Or God knowingly created a foundational evil and all his demons in perfect knowledge he was going to be evil, because of reasons I don't think the Codex Astartes is on your side

Has anybody else noticed this? Mormons on X all tend to: 1. Parrot the same talking points. 2. Get offended easily. 3. Struggle with logic. 4. Attack the Bible when pressed. 5. Worship and adore their cult's founder.

Well the primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is to be the second witness of Jesus Christ, to really solidify Jesus' mission as the Savior as opposed all the other religions in the world. If the Book of Mormon is true, then the Bible and it's truth claims about Jesus are also true, to the convincing of the Jew and the gentile. That's why I can have full confidence in the theological claims surrounding Jesus, because of the Book of Mormon. President Ezra Taft Benson said this: "Just as the arch crumbles if the keystone is removed, so does all the Church stand or fall with the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon... If the Book of Mormon be true... then one must accept the claims of the Restoration and all that accompanies it." Likewise President Gordon B. Hinckley said: "It’s either true or false. If it’s false, we’re engaged in a great fraud. If it’s true, it’s the most important thing in the world." So really the reason why the Book of Mormon is emphasized in missionary work is for that practical reason, that it is the keystone. If a person knows that the Book of Mormon is true, the logical chain would follow that Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet, his revelations in the D&C are true, the Priesthood Authority Jesus gave the original Apostles has been restored to the Earth, Prophets still speak today, etc. If the Book of Mormon is true, considering the wildly miraculous claims surrounding where it even came from and how it was translated, one must reconcile those. If it came forward in anything but some miraculous means, it wouldn't really serve as evidence Joseph Smith was a prophet, logically speaking.

Mormons: why do you push for Christians and other non-Mormons to specifically read the Book of Mormon instead of your other scriptures like the Pearl of Great Price? Do you consider them to have different levels of inspiration/authority? Is the BoM more important than the PoGP?
