300-350 mile morning out - evening back road trips in an EV are pretty annoying. Left with 100%, arrived with 30% after 162 miles of driving, charged back to 100% (80 min on a 100kW DCFC), arrived back with 24%. While the charging definitely could’ve been more optimized (it was the most convenient option), the point stands that most people would do this trip in a gas car without thinking about fueling and without stopping for fuel. There are a handful of EVs that could do this trip without charging, but they’re not cheap. Almost any gas car could do it. These kinds of use cases are hurdles to adoption. I do this trip or similar trips ~20 times/year.
