Didn't feel like posting at all today. We launched our product (my day job) at a big corp today. And it was close to chaos. QAs, analytics, DevOps, something was off everywhere. It wasn't catastrophic, but we definitely didn't crush it. Then I opened X, saw the usual "consistency is key" and "code is not the hard part" posts, and weirdly, it made me smile. So here I am, posting a survival story in case it does find its reader.

@GoodieWebDev @_devHelen Vibe coding (so far as I understand) is putting the A.I in agent mode and accepting whatever code it gives you without any real manual edits (other than some syntax fixes etc). It can be fun for a bit but makes for hard to understand code.

@QuietFSoftware @_devHelen I need to understand. Normally, I just open any AI, tell it my problems, or start a project from scratch and say okay, let's work on this page or route. That's like the AI chat feature. You're saying Vibecoding is different?

@sickdotdev Watch as it sneakily updates one line amongst the rest that broke functionality you didn't intend to touch.

Watch your IDE suggest a "quick fix" for an error. Watch it proceed to add forty two unnecessary imports. And that break three other files you weren’t even touching.

@RandallKanna Such an underrated piece of advice. If you get 3 important (not necessarily big) things done each day, it doesn't take long to see real progress!

Every day, I choose 3 actions to get done that will move my goals forward. And I immediately feel better. If I miss a day, I feel terrible. I work on my course, my SaaS, our home, and our family lives or other personal goals. Try it and tell me you don't feel better!

@mikeydsoftware The speed at which I can debug and diagnose problems now is wild to me. Also helping me learn the languages I use even better!

The hardest problem solving (debugging) has been solved though by ai agents. This used to take 10+ years to truly master. The remaining is much much easier to get up to speed with. I'm glad it has, allows so much more to be built now, much faster.

@_devHelen There is nothing like seeing the payoff of hours of debugging and knowing it didn't exist before you made it.

Something I genuinely enjoy about tech is the process of figuring things out. The moment something finally works after hours of trying is still one of the best feelings.

@ThePrimeagen I forget the source of this but there is a video that says you can be 1 of 3 things. A sheep, a wolf, or a Shepherd. A sheep can't defend itself, A wolf terrorizes the sheep, and a shepherd defends the sheep. Teach your kids to be shepherds. Good on you.

I told my kid specifically never to hit someone. Its absolutely silly to resort to violence and only soft and ignorant people do that. But if someone hits you or your siblings I expect you to defend yourself. Then I taught them how to throw a punch I also have a punching bag

@_devHelen yeah, on one hand is a subtle difference. But it has a huge impact on outcomes!

@crystalxbtt Can you actually sleep on planes and is it a nice long flight? Then stay up! If you can't sleep or its a short flight though, get the sleep you can :)

@omgsidewalks Agree. I finally had to sit down and make one just so I would remember to browse (and share) my favorite photos. Highly recommend. Fun project and total cost was maybe $20.

It’s really sad that the tradition of having physical photo albums has been lost, because now everything is digital. It was so beautiful to sit down, open an album, look at each photo, and relive so many memories.

@hetmehtaa Security through obscurity is indeed one approach 😆

Our API keys were exposed so I just renamed the file from keys.txt to dont_open.txt. Since then no breaches. Security is really about psychology if you think about it 😂

A solved problem creates value. Value creates demand. Demand creates income. Focus on solving problems and building trust. Then the money comes as a byproduct.

@thriveminds1 Thank you for posting this. More people need to know it. Everyone wants to "make money" but no one really wants to solve a problem. But people will always pay to solve a big enough problem.

@nandini__bagga I mean, it makes sense. If you want to work there, you'll need to communicate. Will certainly make it much harder though.

@AditiRajasthan Writing down the amounts from receipts and categorizing them. It's humbling to see how much you spent on eating out or subscriptions and motivate you to control it more.
