Always a pleasure to co-lead Cemetery tours with @summerstown182. We’ve been sharing stories of amazing women we’ve found in the run up. Today the 66th anniversary of orchid artist Nelly Roberts’ death, we got to share women’s stories with fabulous group of people.

Since you all voted for Blue Plaques for Women in our 2020 poll, we are very pleased that four of your choices received an English Heritage blue plaque. Yesterday was the unveiling of a blue plaque for Olive Morris, a political activist, who lived on Railton Road, Brixton.

Because of the huge interest from visitors to our exhibition, Shakespeare in Lambeth, we have extended its run until Fri 6 December. As well as celebrating the return of the folios, "Shakespeare in Lambeth" explores the ways in which Shakespeare was performed the past 200 years.

@CHAYHO1 @thevicsoc Still a long way to go but at least it’s moved up the Lambeth Council agenda a bit and we are meeting with the project leads now they are in place. State of the building still very precarious and reluctance to invest in making it weathertight

Cormont Road school SE5 on the Top 10 list 2024. After much push back @thevicsoc and local campaigners will be getting a visit to see condition of outside of school soon. Still hopeful of getting full survey condition reports soon. New housing could be an option

Interesting. Theophilus Dunkley had his undertakers in Westminster Bridge Road and is buried in Lambeth Cemetery. Two branches of the same family business serving different parts of London ?

Stoke Newington History@HistoryOfStokey

Henry Dunkley, Cemetery Stone & Marble Works, Stoke Newington High St next to Abney Park Cemetery. His name can be seen on many monuments in the cemetery, and not surprisingly he is buried in Abney Park near the funerary chapel along the footpath from the High St.
