This evening, Rwanda received an award from @WorldBankGroup recognizing its strong performance on the newly launched Human Capital Index+ (HCI+), after emerging as a top performer relative to its income level. The award was presented by @MamtaMurthi , Vice President for People at the World Bank. The HCI+ uses data on health, education, and employment outcomes to assess how effectively countries translate investments into productivity highlighting Rwanda’s sustained gains in health, learning, and skills development.

This evening, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame joined thousands of Rwandan youth for the annual Walk to Remember and Night Vigil at BK Arena, as part of the #Kwibuka32 remembrance activities, where young Rwandans stand together to uphold the memory of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

This evening, President Kagame joined a full Amahoro Stadium as thousands of fans gathered for the #FIFASeries match where Amavubi, Rwanda’s National Team, won 4-0 against Grenada. Hosted in Rwanda, the FIFA Series brings together eight nations—Rwanda, Grenada, Kenya, Estonia, Aruba, Liechtenstein, Macau, and Tanzania—for international friendlies, marking the first time a single country hosts two groups. The biennial competition takes place every March in even-numbered years, with its inaugural edition held in 2024.

Rwanda is making progress towards adding nuclear power to its energy mix. An IAEA Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission recently visited Rwanda to assess the country’s progress in developing the infrastructure needed for a safe, secure and sustainable nuclear power programme. Rwanda aims to have nuclear power supply 60–70% of its energy mix, with its first SMR expected to be operational in the early 2030s. The mission’s recommendations will help Rwanda further strengthen its nuclear infrastructure and advance its readiness to introduce nuclear power in line with international safety standards and global best practices. Today at IPRC Kicukiro, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame attended the men’s singles final of the ATP Rwanda 100 Challenger, which saw Argentina’s Marco Trungelliti defeat Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, during the third edition of the tournament to take place in Rwanda. The week-long ATP Challenger 100 follows the just concluded ATP Challenger 75, which ran from 2-8 March, with both tournaments featuring 66 players from 20 different countries. #RwandaChallenger
