@SMB_Dan Cool! Will send a quote soon. We are are small batch at this time but have a big order coming in a few months.
English

@SMB_Dan Lots of suppliers are very slow - if you’re quick, can supply excellent quality - let’s chat.
English

@SMB_Dan We are doing some new heat frames for some boards. Drop me a line.
English

@SMB_Dan This seems more like a situation where the aerospace contractors are actually happy to be limited by suppliers because it provides them a smokescreen for failing their targets.
English

@NirnaethA Yea we’ve definitely been there on the CAD abominations 😂
And yes, ISO9001 certified. But AS9100 seems to be the new golden child
English

@SMB_Dan Are you ISO 9001 certified? A lot of high tech stuff want that to get on the internal 'approved' list.
Also, being able to make weird parts in exotic materials and DFM deconflict some engineer's CAD abomination on fairly short lead and cost helps.
English

@SMB_Dan Sure. We send out quotes regularly for pass through on defense contracted jobs.
English

@SMB_Dan That’s pretty thin! We do have a full 5, but on a legacy machine that is more trouble than help sometimes. Long story, but it’s going to be replaced eventually.
English

@SMB_Dan Do you have full 5th axis profiling capability on thin walled parts with complex geometry and inspection requirements, sometimes in exotic materials and low to medium qtys? Some RFQs cross my desk that we need to outsource due to our not yet acquiring said capabilities.
English

@DamirWallener That’s the narrative from Hegseth and co. I’m pessimistic on any actual progress though unless the incumbents get completely replaced
English

@SMB_Dan These are generally not companies that have needed to move fast.
So they don’t know how.
Maybe Hegsie fixes that…
English

@RyobiEnthusiast @douggery Thanks. My LinkedIn tagline is “beancounter turned machinist”
Marketing was never part of the career path. I definitely need help 😅
English

@SMB_Dan @douggery My 2 cents cuz I love American machine shops: Doug’s advice is great, I see this as a marketing problem since the competency of the shop is obvious. Sharpening the marketing sword will help in networking - you solve people’s problems: “We reduce your lead time” full stop. GL!
English

Invaluable advice, thanks.
We took our setup times for these PCB frames from 3 hours down to 20 mins. I have been pitching us as a “low profile aluminum parts” shop for a while now, but no traction. Maybe I start to pitch “ability to drastically reduce lead times once we get familiar with your parts and build a custom process”
English

@BuildBoost Yea the one eVTOL company I was able to get through to, I started talking to an engineer. He’s dope.
But then the buyers sent me an RFQ for an injection molded part, and I’m a machine shop
English

@SMB_Dan The secret is buyers suck and you need to get connected to the PMs/engineers
