As a defender you have to switch from open ice mode into blocking shots, tie up sticks, get low and muscle guys out or down to the ice to defend that space
This was a big issue

Yes, defenders take more time, but were you not watching the games in 2024-2025 ?

@Slash61m @Sabrestalkv2 Bust seems harsh for a kids first real 3 years pro. Most say D men don't even get a grasp on the league until game 200. I honestly think being in the Atlantic really warped people's views on some of the teams. They were 1 point out of the playoffs in 2022-2023
