@JudyWinslow_fm @BrerOswald Dang how did you not know Bluey? I see it everywhere these days 😅
English

@BrerOswald Yeah, like girl meets world i watched a bit of for the bmw nostalgia. I had no idea Bluey existed before these shows were announced
English

Ok I wasn’t gonna judge…but this is legitimately babyshit lol. Maybe the TV show is different, idk, I never watched it. But if you don’t have toddlers, what’s the point of this?
🔥 FIVE FIRES 🔥@thecalibae
Bluey’s Best Day Ever has debuted at Disneyland - WOW this show is so much fun #disneyland #bluey

@takarakanashi @PeekABooClown @Cosmic_Gasu @Caitiebear13 Numerous Black scholars and storytellers have also reclaimed and defended the stories. Julius Lester rewrote it in 1987, for example. There are several modern day storytellers at the Wren’s Nest and the Uncle Remus Museum.
English

@PeekABooClown @Cosmic_Gasu @Caitiebear13 You don't know me nor do you know my heritage, which is not white. You can call me a liar all you want, but you're the one delusuonally claiming that a work that numerous Black scholars have panned as racist is not.
English

@takarakanashi @PeekABooClown @Cosmic_Gasu @Caitiebear13 As an African American you need to do research. The stories were documented prior to Joel Chandler Harris, and Harris spent the rest of his life fighting for equal rights. My ancestors told these stories, and to give credit to Joel Chandler Harris only is wrong.
English

@PeekABooClown @Cosmic_Gasu @Caitiebear13 He stole stories and capitalized on releasing a book of them. You're literally propping up racist heritage and calling people who hand back facts proving you wrong racist. Astounding.
English

@OwlProf30426 @NickChaps96 I do not sadly, but I am aware of the majority of the merchandise released for the attraction.
English

@SplashMHS @NickChaps96 Do you have a list of all the splash mountain memorabilia that’s been release over the years?
I know Japan got some more plush’s under the critter country label.

@toonjoeyhimself I didn’t know this, thanks for correcting me! However, there are many other examples of Disney mistreating their Black actors in the modern day. John Boyega has brought it up many times. I’ll add what you said to the thread as to not spread misinformation.
English

@SplashMHS Also Finn got his own entire poster (same with Chewie). Front and center, too!
I haven't heard of the other examples you've given so I'll have to research them eventually.

English

@That1Passholder @NickChaps96 It was sold at Walt Disney World and Disneyland primarily from 2018 to 2019, with some overlap into 2020!
English

@NickChaps96 That is an awesome cup! Where did you find that one? I don't remember ever seeing it in the parks
English

@jackbrady1010 According to Walt Disney, he needed very little direction while on set, he was a natural! Walt said he was one of the best actors he ever met, and remained friends with James until his passing in 1948
English

Can I just say how shockingly good the mix of live action is? There doesn't seem to be a single flaw at all.
I wonder what the set James was on was like
Splash Mountain Historical Society@SplashMHS
Fun fact! James Baskett auditioned for the main three animated characters in Song of the South, not just a butterfly like many have claimed. He got the role of Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit for certain scenes, but it wasn't until he met Walt Disney that he got the role of Uncle Remus!
English

@RPD0285 For sure! Thank you for your feedback
English

@SplashMHS This is a super interesting piece of lore. Many of us aren’t privy to the inner workings of Imagineering. In a future post can you identify the first cast member to suggest this, and the circumstances?
English

@RPD0285 After, they removed references to its characters, music, and took it off of merchandise. This shows that they did not originally have the idea to erase Splash Mountain. Even if there was a plan to get rid of the ride prior, it wasn't full-on erasure for its content. (2/2)
English

@RPD0285 Sure, thank you for asking! Basically, Disney had been promoting Splash Mountain up until a month until the announcement of a re-theme. (1/2)
