@agraybee Of course, Ron’s fixation on money is portrayed as a character flaw (he should be happy to have family). Whereas Harry is noble BECAUSE he’s always been denied things, and throughout the story he doesn’t even seem to care about money (gives away Triwizard prize, Sirius’s house).

@agraybee I think Rowling dislikes money in an abstract way but also admires the monied’s ability to buy advantages. In the text you don’t really fault Harry for it because he’s never had anything at all, let him have a nice thing, but it’s still like “nice expensive things are rewards”.
