@TheMcKenziest We lost NPR/PBS in 2021-2022, when they joined NYT/Atlantic/WaPo, etc & they fully threw themselves behind soft anti-public health/pro-infection coverage. I was a lifelong supporter, but my support ended then.

@helenaddy Women can be emotional at times, but men’s behavior is often entirely ruled by their emotions, mostly bc of their lack of awareness of them. When you can’t identify or understand your own emotions, you can’t understand how they affect your behavior.

After dealing with an emotional Man™, I always think about how people use women's emotions as the reason they should not lead. Guess what, babes, men are emotional too. And generally speaking, way less able to manage them because they were never taught how.

You & I, w/no help, made it our business to learn how to wear one properly. She, a doctor, didn’t. No excuses for it.

As much as I see people being rudely critical of how this persons masking looks imperfect, if we keep crapping on them for doing the right thing y’all are going to make them not want to and encourage others to not even try. Give HELPFUL feedback to those who are at least trying.

@acrossthemersey I tend to punch up a bit more on the issue. This tendency to live in denial was first codified with the "end of the pandemic" and the subsequent and nearly universal ending of masking in health facilities. When all the doctors and nurses are acting like nothing needs to be done

There's a ton of pre-COVID data on N95 mask comfort, as well as the challenges of achieving mask compliance. Healthcare workers' dislike for them is not a new phenomenon.
I'd settle for them admitting that, and it's because they simply don't want to wear masks, and campaigning for better masks, or, if that is too much to ask- pushing improved protocols and massive upgrades to environmental systems.
How many times have we seen healthcare professionals in absolute garbage masks that we know are incredibly uncomfortable and fit-test poorly? Molded cup style N95 practically tourniqueted to their skull to pass a fit test? In 2025? If that is their experience with N95s, no wonder they despise them.
Claiming improved infection control protocols aren't needed because you are afraid admitting that might lead to masking protocols, when HAI's in ICUs are hovering around 20% is ridiculous.

Honestly, I think most of us would totally be fine if the MDs would just be honest and say, “Look, honestly, we really don’t give a shit if you get Covid in our hospital or our clinic and die. @NukitToBeSure @frostykaden They just don’t want to wear them, & that’s what’s so disturbing to me. They’re not plumbers or electricians, they’re healthcare workers, FFS. Their job is to keep us healthy. Infecting us should horrify them, but it doesn’t, so they can’t be trusted. But we few alternatives.

@acrossthemersey I've been feeling angry to the bone. I step out and want to lash out against everyone, physically or otherwise. It's that whatever vibe most people give off. I bring the alpha female wtf y'all doing. Though it's probably the statin eating my brain too lol
