In the Coachella Valley, many think of palm tree and home lined golf courses, most of them flat. But there is one course that isn’t just unique in the area, but it’s one of the most unique golf courses on the entire planet. If we ever get to play golf on the moon, I imagine it will be a lot like Stone Eagle, Tom Doak’s desert mountain masterpiece. Nothing like it anywhere.

Does anyone know why the Old Course Hotel (built in 1968) is so close to the 17th hole? What made them decide to put up a giant building nearly in the middle of the 17th hole? Especially when there is so much land available and the building was not forced to be this close. It's certainly interesting and different, just curious if any historians know what the thinking was? That yellow line is 230 yards long and the end of it is only about 34 yards from where OB would be.

This is the putting chart I keep in my yardage book. I’ve putt this way for 20+ years. The stimp is in the upper left corner. (St-10 = green stimping at 10) The slope numbers across the top show the percentage slope of the green. The numbers in the table tell you how many inches of break to play on your putt: Gray cells: These show how many inches INSIDE the cup you should aim. White cells: These show how many inches OUTSIDE the cup you should aim. Keep in mind, all of this assumes you're hitting your putt with enough pace to roll about 12 inches past the hole.
