He comes from a privileged background: prep school, successful restaurateur mother, attorney father, prominent architect grandfather, and is now a Democratic Senate candidate backed by the party machine and national donors. His attacks on “billionaires sucking money out of rural Maine” ring hollow when his own livelihood relies heavily on government disability payments rather than a thriving private business.
