@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship NZF doesn’t have the trade portfolio and since they don’t hold it they don’t get to shape it or partake in negotiations They have to run it past coalition partners before they try to implement it. NZF said no. And now Labour is supporting it so it’s going ahead

@ThreeNationss @caffeineworship Small parties in MMP get significant power to shape policies, but that means they are responsible for the policies that come out. Sorry, ya can’t have it both ways.

Can someone not affiliated with NZF explain why the India FTA needs to include: - Affirmation to UNDRIP - Reaffirmation of The Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC - Collaboration on CBDC

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship They have given the government 0 support They are outnumbered in cabinet - so their vote against it there doesn’t matter And now it doesn’t matter in the House either since Labour supports it and has given National-ACT the support And what do you want NZF to do?

@ThreeNationss @caffeineworship Opposed the deal in words and tweets, yet gave the crucial support and numbers to the Government that signed it…. Right

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship And if the legislation doesn’t pass it isn’t enacted in NZ They can only sign it if they can enact it. They didn’t sign it until Labour supported because NZF said no National - ACT relied on the opposition to get a FTA signed and enacted Irregardless - NZF is opposed to the deal

@ThreeNationss @caffeineworship To incorporate it in domestic law, sure. That still doesn’t change a thing I said. This is a dance to avoid the basic fact your Government signed it 🙃

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship And in order for the FTA to be enacted relevant legislation needs to pass through the House The deal wasn’t signed until Labour agreed to support it as NZF wouldn’t NZF have refused to support the deal If the associated Leg fails to get through the House, the deal is dead

@ThreeNationss @caffeineworship As convention a Government sends international agreements to Parliament for its view. That doesn’t change a thing I said. Your Government signed the agreement…. The Government that includes NZF.

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship Bro then why is it going to the House for first reading? Why does it need labour support to pass through the House? Why has it been introduced on the order paper and has to go to select committee and everyone has said - it needs Labour to support to get through the house?

@ThreeNationss @caffeineworship The house doesn’t agree to international agreements, the Government does. NZF is in the Government. The Government signed the deal. Those are the facts.

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship NZF is not the leader of government, that’s national They didn’t know about this information being put in until the deal was finalised and put to cabinet - where national and ACT hold the majority so they haven’t propped it up Labour is through supporting it in the House

@Coolestkapital @caffeineworship Except they don’t agree with it and are voting against it Before it was even released to the public NZF voiced that they would not be supporting the FTA and would be voting against it in the House Trade is Minister McClays area. NZF don’t get to interfere

Gotta vote NZF in big numbers if you want to save yourselves. Ain’t no one coming to the rescue. Pretty soon the Indian FTA immigration clause will stop NZers being able to vote their way out. This is THE MOST IMPORTANT election in NZ history. Wakey Wakey.
The Salty One@the_salty_one_

Honestly, we're fucked. @NZNationalParty are basically @nzlabour, while @NZGreens and @Maori_Party are Socialists and Communists. @actparty have had their moments but not great, @nzfirst are the closest party we have to a centre party politically. We are fucked.

@the_salty_one_ If you split the vote you give power to Greens and TPM Winston peters and NZF are the only ones who are advocating against the India FTA and 20 years ago winston warned about the immigration issue and for 20 years everyone’s just waved him off.

Who should lead the Restore New Zealand political party? An NZ party that reflects the values of the UK party, that is needed to balance the far left and centre options we have now?

@2ETEKA It’s a pathetic attack line that reeks of desperation when they have nothing to offer kiwis except a shithouse FTA They can keep gaslighting kiwis over it but it’s not working Even the Australians think it’s shithouse and hate it as it’s a back door to their country

🚩Former Senior National Minister : “I talk to a lot of people in my electorate, and I KNOW they are long time National MEMBERS, and they are telling me.. I cannot vote for National anymore, I just can’t, so I’m voting Peters he’s representing the way we feel” “Nicola Willis has just been incredible, what is she doing? attacking NZ First as racist, she just makes no sense. They are panicking and they are haemorrhaging.. Peters is accumulating votes by the day.” National is going to be turned inside out.

@SimonRAnderson TPB wouldn’t work because a successive government could repeal - or amend - the bill and redefine the principles Otherwise a court case spearheaded by TPM and other pro treaty lawyers would’ve seen the principles be re-defined by some woke judge

Remember that time Kiwis elected a National-led government to restore democracy and repeal co-governance Apartheid? Then they killed the Treaty Principles Bill and weaseled co-governance and climate communism into trade agreements to prevent any repeal of domestic legislation?
Prophet of Troy@troy_prophet

And there we go. The select committee process is virtue signalling only. The negotiated contract cannot be changed. UNDRIP and the Paris Accord stay.

1/ You’ve heard about the 5,000 reserved visas. You’ve heard about the uncapped student channel. You haven’t heard about this bombshell. The floodgates are opened. 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 labelled as “Specialists” - no cap, no labour market test, and no future NZ government can wind it back without India’s permission. Annex 8K defines a “Specialist” as anyone with “advanced trade, technical or professional skills.” That covers a McDonald’s franchise manager just as easily as a software engineer. Pretty much any standard job ticks the box. What's more, Immigration NZ doesn't define "Specialists", Indian companies self-define their own roles.
