@QuetzalPhoenix It's easy to forget (since they're so mainstream now) that a lot of the heavy lifting in getting non bikers and sailors to get tattoos, was done by Hollywood celebrity culture.

I genuinely dont understand the appeal of tattoos, can anyone explain? Do you have to be raised in some kind of culture?

@QuetzalPhoenix This is pretty common I think. Although "changing politics" seems an inadequate description. Post war liberalism is more like a religion than it is something you do once in a while on a ballot.

Reminder: Even though my politics have shifted, I did used to be a lefty. In temperament & cultural consumption & lifestyle I am closer to the average reddit lib than I am to a real conservative blue collar guy. Libs & nerds are my "tribe" & I still want them to change, bc I did
